Shouldn't Bent be worth more than Crouch?

The Daily Mail has reported that Bent could move to Sunderland for £12 million.

Didn't Levy say that Bent isn't going anywhere unless the £16 million (or £18 million; depending on which red-top you read) valuation is reached?

I couldn't find the assists totals, but I am pretty confident that Crouch has a better assist average.

I feel that Bent, if played regularly, can hit 20 goals a season. There aren't a lot of strikers in the Premier League that can do that.

Levy; hold out for the £16 million!

    Also what does everyone think about Dos Santos? having great spell at the moment for the Mexican Team in the Semi FInals of Gold cup?

    Will there be space for him when he gets back?
  2. What really can Crouch do for us that Bent can't - why are we doing this. Crouch is not an idiot but neither is Bent - not sure about Redknapp though.
  3. It seems daft that Bent would cost less than Crouch as you say. Personally I would be happy enough if we didn't change our striker options at the club for one season. In fact i'd be happy enough to go with what we've got all round except maybe add a leftie. I honestly believe we need as little disruption to the squad as possible so that we can really see what they can do. The last few years have seen so many player/management ins and outs it seemed like a marathon okey cokey session at the Lane. Stability hopefully equals consistency!
  4. Tbh, we will probably buy Crouch so that he can be our target man.

    Everyone is hung up on his physical non-abilities. Stop thinking of an Emil Heskey type target man.

    I actually feel he'll do well for us and will team up quite smartly with Defoe.

    It will be a shame if Bent leaves, but he needs to be the top guy. He's a confidence player, which means that he can't just come off the bench and do well. If he misses a sitter, everyone gets on his back, which really doesn't help.

  7. I thought Levy and Redknapp had said they would only bring in players that will IMPROVEMENT the squad, but that startegy has obviously gone out the window 3 weeks into the transfer window. I fail to see what part of the squad Crouch will improve? Answers on a postcard please Mr Levy and Mr Redknapp.
  8. Bent is worth more than crouch to most teams as he will score more goals. However we have two other strikers who are also 'out and out' goalscorers in defoe and pav (3 if you include Keane), with Defoe def ahead of Bent in the pecking order. Bent doesnt play outstandingly well with other strikers or create goals for others, therefore if we could sacrifice Bent to get a striker who has some of the attributes we are missing plus is likely to be a great fit with the team (personality etc) it doesnt seem a bad deal. If (hopefully) we can make some money in the pocess, better still. 16 - 12 = 4 million gain (and maybe a lower salary?). If we can entice Portsmouth to take Chimbo or someone in PX, that would be an even greater gain. Of course Crouch is not a Huntelaar or Berbatov, but we have been trying - it looks like unsuccessfully - to get a'top' class striker and it seems an impossible task.

  10. why do we want that beanstalk, light weight player again!! my estimation in Redknapp will go down if he signs him. keep with what he's got or sign someone really good not a maybe.

  12. Simple, Crouch can link up well with Defoe, Bent can't. We play two up front not one and sometimes towards the end of last season the two man partnerships we had couldn't break apart defences.

    Crouchy scores less often but come on did you see the tap in goals Bent scored? Give me Crouch any day...

    That said I think we'd all prefer Huntelaar, at 15 mill he's definitely got to be worth 3 more than Bent.
