Let's tackle another 'limited' reader.

“Worst Premier League season ever”? No sh*t — we’ve got no players left.

“After 25 years it’s working so well, worst ever Premier League season and our longest ever trophy drought. Maybe the strategy needs to change?”

Ah yes, the classic half-fact, full-stupid comment.

Let’s break it down before someone accidentally agrees with it.

Yes, 17th would be our lowest Premier League finish.

Congratulations on spotting the Premier League table.

But let’s add in the bit your brain skipped:

🟡 We’re in the UEFA Europa League Final
🟡 We’re in Year 2 of a complete club rebuild - not just a team rebuild
🟡 Half the first team have been injured all season
🟡 The rest were playing at 40% energy for months

🟡 And we’re still building something that might actually last
🟡 The youngsters are fatigued, playing to give the 1st XI a rest

So yes — 17th.

But if you think that’s because “the strategy failed,” you’re not watching the games.
Or you lack the mental capacity to see what's actually going on.

This isn’t a strategy failure. It’s an injury crisis.

  • Micky van de Ven: hamstring nightmare

  • Destiny Udogie: out

  • Maddison: out

  • Vicario out

  • Odobert out

  • Moore out

  • Dragusin out

  • Richarlison: in and out

  • Romero: in and out

  • Bissouma: knackered

  • Son: flogged

  • Sarr: overplayed

  • Bentancur: barely fit

  • Even the youth players have been playing with knocks

What team finishes strong when 70% of their spine is broken?

Not even Man City could survive this many absences with this much inexperience.

The comment shows a complete lack of understanding of football.

Longest trophy drought? No — 16 years.

No, the longest was between 1920-21 and 1950-51 - that's 30 years.

Longest since then, yes, no sugar-coating that.

But let’s see what Levy’s “failure” has actually produced:

  • 7 Finals

  • 13 Semi-Finals

  • 1 Champions League Final

  • 2 European Finals

  • 2 Semi-Finals in one season - achieved once in 42 years since Bill Nicholson

  • the last A world-class stadium

  • A world-class training ground

  • Elite youth investment

  • And now, a club finally built around identity and attacking football

This is what fans demanded for years.

You wanted a project.
You wanted youth.
You wanted attacking football.

Now we’ve got it...

And you’re screaming because your patience lasted 14 months.

You wanted a trophy.

We're in the Europa League Final...

And you're moaning about that too.

You're paying lip service to being a supporter...

Lip service to wanting to win a trophy.

THBN The Final Word

This season isn’t the consequence of a bad plan.

It’s the consequence of a good plan being derailed by injuries and exhaustion.

Postecoglou has made hard calls, and it’s cost us short-term points.

But the long-term trajectory is up, not sideways.

So no — the strategy doesn’t need to change.

What needs to change...

...is the volume of fans who can’t handle a rough patch without turning into TalkSport callers.

Children who have lost their dummy.
