AZ Alkmaar vs Tottenham Hotspur Bets (Play-off Round of 16, 1st Leg)

I have put in some study and found some bets for this tie for those Spurs fans who like to bet on the Lilywhites when playing.

Lilywhite is appropriate as Spurs traditionally play in all-white in Europe, which I think is a lovely tradition and one that again separates us from others.
  • Double Chance – Tottenham or Draw: Tottenham boast a deeper squad and European experience, making them unlikely to lose this first leg.

AZ have lost only four home games in all competitions this season, so they’re no pushovers, but Spurs will be content with at least a draw on the road.

This covers a stalemate or an away win, both plausible given Spurs’ quality advantage.

  • Both Teams to Score – Yes (BTTS): AZ are a free-scoring side at home and “Tottenham’s defence seldom keeps clean sheets”.

Spurs have plenty of attacking talent themselves, so it’s likely both nets will bulge. In their group meeting in October, Tottenham edged AZ 1-0, but AZ created chances.

With AZ’s Troy Parrott (a former Spurs striker) in form, scoring 17 goals this season, the hosts can breach Spurs’ backline. Expect goals at both ends.

  • Over 2.5 Total Goals: Aligning with the BTTS pick, this game promises entertainment.

Four of Tottenham’s last five Europa League games and four of AZ’s last five in the competition saw over 2.5 goals.

AZ often play open attacking football, and Spurs have an array of finishers (e.g. Son, Maddison).

A 2-1 or 3-1 type of scoreline is on the cards given the offensive prowess on display.

  • Player Prop – Troy Parrott to Score Anytime: For a side bet, consider Parrott to find the net.

The Irish forward will be extra motivated against his former club and has scored in three of AZ’s last five home Europa matches.

He’s AZ’s focal point up front and on penalties, offering a narrative-backed punt with solid stats behind it.

Key injuries/lineups: AZ miss midfielder Sven Mijnans (Achilles) and winger Jayden Addai, but Parrott leads the line in a 4-2-3-1.

Tottenham are without Dejan Kulusevski (foot) and Richarlison, among others, but James Maddison and Heung-min Son should start, providing creativity and goal threat.

Spurs may rotate a bit, but we have welcomed back Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero to training, bolstering our defensive options.

Still, given Spurs’ patchy form (losses to Man City and Liverpool recently), the above conservative bets cover multiple outcomes.
