Spurs Summer Transfer Window Day 73
Good morning on this fine Sunday morning, hope it's a lovely day wherever you are in the world on this Spurs Summer Transfer Window Day 73.
We'll tuck into some chat in a minute, then there will be some transfer news and some transfer snippets of Tottenham linked players and finally we'll talk about the Spurs vs Wolves encounter yesterday lunchtime at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs Chat
Isn't it nice to have a Managing Director of Football that we can trust.
We have had others bring in players with the wrong mentality, but it's different under Fabio Paratici and his knowledge of the Italian game, instead of the French game, is doing wonders for us.
Italy has a culture of defending, for the psyche of the population, stopping a goal is as good as scoring a goal, thus I have long thought we should be hunting there for defenders.
Players from Italy always seemed to be difficult to acquire but we are in an era where players move anywhere now it seems.
Two from Italy in our defence and one in front of it has strengthened us and it is no surprise that we have been looking to Italy to strengthen it further.
Whoever Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici want to buy is fine by me, I don't care who they are or how much they cost, if they want them then that's good enough.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg
Reportedly Real Madrid are looking at Pierre-Emile Højbjerg to replace Manchester United bound Casemiro.
Casemiro is reported to be joining Man Utd because of the stupid wages they are going to pay him £350,000 a week, an offer he felt he couldn't turn down.
Former Southampton captain, Højbjerg scored his first away goal for Spurs since his move in August 2020 for just £14.94m in the weekend draw with Top 4 rivals Chelsea.
In 103 games for Tottenham the Dane has scored 6 goals and had 9 assists from his defensive midfield position.
By comparison, for Southampton in 134 games he scored 5 goals and had 6 assists.
”I’m not the most talented player my team-mates will come across but I’m one they can trust 100% & know even when it hurts, I will be there.”
It seems to me that Højbjerg would become a squad player if he joined them but if we can get £50m+ for him I'd snap their hands off and reinvest the money in a replacement.
Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti tried to sign Danish international Højbjerg when he was manager of Everton.
"My plans are not gonna change with Casemiro leaving as we have Modrić, Kroos, Tchouaméni, Ceballos, Fede Valverde, Camavinga…six midfielders are enough for this season. They're very, very good."
At Real Madrid though the head coach gets no say in who they sign, he just gets given players to work with, but I simply can't see the Spanish giants offering enough money.
Reports suggest they are considering offering £45m. If we can push that up a bit and throw-in a few add-ons I'd be seriously considering who we could replace him with.
He is a good player but certainly not irreplaceable and if an upgrade is available who has a year left on their contract then it would enable us to bring them in and have more transfer funds for our remaining targets.
Sometimes you have to raise funds by selling a player to buy to more who upgrade the squad, it is certainly something that Conte and Paratici will discuss and decide upon.
We should all remember that Real Madrid have already bought Casimiro's long term replacement in 22-year-old (23 next January) Aurélien Tchouaméni from Monaco.
Sergio Reguilón
Lazio are the latest club to ask about our 25-year-old left-back Sergio Reguilón.
Everyone wants him on loan and everyone wants us to pay a large chunk of his wages, none want an obligation to buy.
All that means is we get the player back next summer and have the same problem getting rid of him again because of his wages.
With no other options at the moment we may be forced into it for him and Harry Winks.
Lazio have UEFA Europa League football this season after finishing 5th in Serie A last season.
Barcelona and Sevilla have not followed up their initial interest.
From what I understand, Reguilón is Plan B if they fail to sign Marcus Alonso from Chelsea, so naturally Reguilón would wait to see if that comes off before agreeing a loan move elsewhere.
Spurs are asking for €25m (£21.21m) but Barcelona potentially have a cheaper option up their sleeve in Caio Henrique of Monaco.
He joined Spurs because he was forced out by Real Madrid for financial reasons
Japhet Tanganga
AC Milan have reignited talks over Japhet Tanganga after failing to agree a deal for PSG centre-back Abdou Diallo.
Further talks are taking place next week.
Milan hope PSG will lower their demands for Diallo, with Tanganga as their fall back option.
Djed Spence
Quite why a swathe of our supporters had Djed Spence down as our number one right-back is beyond me.
He was always going to take time to adjust to a higher level of fitness and playing ability, as well as having to learn a new system under a new manager and what his requirements would be within it.
He has to adjust to life at a big club with big expectations so he has mental challenges.
I'm not surprised wwe are considering loaning him out but it will depend upon the homegrown factor and whether we need him for it.
Transfer Snippets
A few transfer snippets involving Tottenham linked players to keep you in the loop of what is happening behind the scenes as it were.
Roma put Nicolò Zaniolo up for sale and have since taken him off the market, while Eintracht Frankfurt central defender Evan N'Dicka does not seem to want to leave the German club this summer.
Juventus number one attacking target in Memphis Depay ho is trying to negotiate a 'golden handshake' from the Spaniards, who have not yet agreed a deal with the Italians but expect to over the weekend. Juventus have offered him a two-year contract.
Adrien Rabiot has not left Juventus for Manchester United meaning the Italians haven't been able to sign Leandro Paredes, the defensive midfielder of PSG, a player Tottenham have been linked with.
With the additional money Paratici could also buy attacking midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi from Atalanta.
It is quite possible we would still have money left over to put towards another centre-back.
Sometimes you sacrifice a player for the greater good.
Mohamed Kudas of Ajax looks as though he is going to be joining Everton, who could have a decent player on their hands.
Inter and PSG are once again talking about Milan Škriniar but the French are adamant they will not pay more than €50m (£42.42m) for the Serbian international centre-back.

Spurs vs Wolves
A poor first half from Tottenham with the build up play far too slow, when Conte says he wants things done quickly.
The defenders didn't have enough passing options and neither did the two defensive midfielders.
Their were occasions when Spurs put passing sequences together to get through Wolves but it all stopped when we got to the last third.
Our main attacking outlet to provide any threat was Ivan Perišić with a cross out of nowhere that Kane got his head to and brought a save from their keeper.
Kulusevski was having an OK game, Son was quiet again and we looked as if we needed someone running at the defence as I suggested at half time on social media.
So much better in the second half, Kulusevski having a much better half but still the passing from midfield was average.
When we have time we can find a pass but too often without time we can't.
Højbjerg and Sánchez could have passed better, we missed Romero's passing from the back.
THBN Man of the Match: Ivan Perišić
His corner taking ability is there for all to see and then in the box from a corner, he is the one who flicks the ball on for Kane to head in the winner.
Perišić now has two assists in our opening three games.

Strange Statistic: Spurs haven't conceded a goal with Davinson Sánchez on the field for over seven and a half hours!
He did his best to give them a goal by trying to duck out the way of the ball though.
