Tottenham Talk on Tuesday 16th November

Jamie-O'Hara

The quest for something new continues and today you'll find an article of youth information and some links for Spurs articles to read from other sources you may not have come across before.

It is always nice to find something different around the web rather than the usual tired regurgitation of news and thus have selected three Spurs articles for you to read, with opening snippets.

Spurs Article 1

Spurs article 1 is from a blog about Spurs next opponents.

Football has-been Jamie O’Hara, best known for being sacked by non-league Billericay Town, is now employed by a down-market radio station that survives by trying to provoke fans to call in by making “controversial” statements.

O’Hara now appears to have outdone himself in the irony alert stakes, with his latest desperate attempt to entice Leeds fans to call in to his lame show and have a go at Marcelo Bielsa, a world class coach he coveted for Tottenham Hotspur only last season.

Spurs Article 2

Spurs article 2 is a story of Spurs history.

The Hotspur Football Club from September 1882 was formed from a cricket club by the name of Hotspur Cricket Club, founded two years earlier. Most of the members were schoolboys of St John’s Presbyterian School and Tottenham Grammar School.

They played at the Tottenham Marshes, a patch of flat land somewhere in the vicinity of where the Victoria Line depot is located at Northumberland Park.

Spurs Article 3

Spurs article 3 is from a Spurs fan living in Australia with North London roots.

On the afternoon of Saturday, September 23rd, 1933, Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) played Liverpool in a match at Tottenham’s home ground, White Hart Lane, in North London. About a mile away, at the same time, my grandmother went into labour with my mother.

Spurs lost the match 0-3, but whenever my mother talked about the event of her birth, she always included this note about the football match. The proximity of her family home to the Spurs stadium meant she grew up surrounded by football culture, and she never lost her love for the team (although she reserved her strongest admiration for 60s and 70s Spurs goalkeeper Pat Jennings).

She passed this loyalty on to me, and I have always been a Spurs fan. Despite living in Australia now for two decades, I still follow the team’s triumphs and disappointments, and watch the matches on catch-up TV. Occasionally, matches are played at a time when I can catch them live, and that’s always exciting.

Spurs Youth News

Born in Finsbury Park and brought up in Muswell Hill, Axel Piesold first joined Tottenham at Under-8 level.

The Academy Year 1 player though, has been released by the club.

A 16-year-old (17 next May) central midfielder was announced as part of a 14 strong scholarship in July, however, Piesold has not made a match day squad for the U18’s this season.

He unfortunately missed a whole years football through injury which has no doubt affected his progress.

He joined the under-18's in the summer but his departure means THBN can only wish him the best of luck for the future.

Dane Scarlett

Striker Dane Scarlett scored twice for England U-19's as they beat Andorra 4-0 in a Euro qualifying game.

Thimothee Lo-Tutala

Born in Paris and brought up in Hainault, Essex, goalkeeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala represented France U-19's keeping a clean sheet.

France U-19 beat Albania U-19 4-0.

First Team Training

Marcel Lavinier is under the watchful eye of Antonio Conte as he has joined Dilan Markanday, Yago De Santiago Alonso, Dermi Lusala and Max Robson training with the first team, or what's left of it during this international break on Thursday.

A new experience for them and a chance for Conte to see what there is coming through at Spurs.

Well that's it for this morning's offering folks.
