Spurs News Mixture

Tottenham need to offload non-homegrown players so it is a case of who will people buy and much as who we want to sell.

Inter has enquired about Moussa Sissoko during the Milan Škriniar.

There were further meeting today between Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio and Steve Hitchen but Ausilio refused to comment when asked by reporters after the meeting.

Tottenham signed Maksim Paskotch last week after a weeks trial in August on a 3-year contract.

We now have another Estonian centre-back on trial, 17-year-old Erko Jonne Tõugjas who has played 21 games for Nõmme United in the Estonian Premier League and has been capped 11 times by Estonia at U-17 level.

As reported earlier Pierre-Emile Højbjerg picked up an injury against Southampton after a diabolical challenge from  defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu. Coincidence?

Chelsea players under Mourinho would have surrounded the ref putting pressure of them so they subconsciously feel they need to make amends later in the game.

You have seen it many a time.

Højbjerg missed the game on Thursday and is doubtful for the game on Sunday.

After our midweek cup tie victory Mourinho praised Tanguy Ndombélé but refused to praise Dele Alli instead remarking we were a much better side with Harry Kane on the field.

What struck me was the lazy way Dele was closing players down.

It was almost a token gesture as if he felt it was a waste of his time.

He did it slowly giving the defender time to pick a pass, yet then everyone else pressed quickly and our opponents often were rushed into a rash pass and gave the ball away.

Mourinho having remarked after the Everton game that we were lazy pressing from the front,a game where Dele was pulled off at half-time, would not have been impressed.

"I want players to fight for the minutes that they want to be on the pitch and when you play for Tottenham, you have to understand that Tottenham wants to be better and better and the rewards are going to be better and better.”
José Mourinho

Sophos151 on Spurs Community has listed our last 12 Premier League goals and they demonstrate the importance of Lo Celso.
  • Southampton 5: Lo Celso, to Lamela, shot parried to Kane
  • Southampton 4: Lo Celso, to Kane, to Son
  • Southampton 3: Sanchez, to Kane, to Son
  • Southampton 2: Lo Celso, to Kane, to Son
  • Southampton 1: Ball won by Ndombele, to Kane, to Son
  • Palace 1: Loose ball picked up by Lo Celso, to Kane
  • Leicester 3: Ball won by Lucas, to Kane
  • Leicester 2: Loose ball picked up by Lo Celso, to Lucas, to Kane
  • Leicester 1: Clearance, to Kane, to Son
  • Newcastle 3 Interception by Lamela, to Kane, to Lamela, shot parried to Kane
  • Newcastle 2: Winks, to Bergwijn, to Kane
  • Newcastle 1: Ball won by Lucas, to Kane, to Lo Celso, to Son

I mentioned after that Southampton game that Lo Celso's contribution to three of the goals would be overlooked.

  • Harry Kane has been involved in all 12 goals.
  • Lo Celso has been involved 6 times
  • Son has been involved 6 times
  • Lucas has been involved 3 times
  • Lamela has been involved 2 times
  • Sanchez has been involved 1 time
  • Bergwijn has been involved 1 time
  • Ndombélé has been involved 1 time
  • Winks has been involved 1 time

Tottenham this season:
Everton we lose 1:0 (no Lo Celso)
Plovdiv we win 2:1 (90mins Lo Celso)
Southampton 1:1 after 45mins Lo Celso comes on we win 5:2
Shkendjia 1:1 after 60mins Lo Celso comes on we win 3:1
The stats I recently posted from last season.

Shot Creating Actions

Son Heung-min 95
Lucas Moura 84
Giovani Lo Celso 59
Harry Kane 58
Dele Alli 53

Shot Creation Actions per 90 minutes.

Giovani Lo Celso 3.56
Erik Lamela 3.48
Son Heung-min 3.45
Lucas Moura 3.37
Steven Bergwijn 3.32

Shot Creation Actions that lead to a goal per 90 mins.

Son Heung-min 22 (0.80)
Dele Alli 12 (0.58)
Erik Lamela 9 (0.67)
Lucas Moura 8 (0.32)
Giovani Lo Celso 6 (0.36)

You'll see Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min and Giovani Lo Celso on all three lists, Dele Alli on two lists, Erik Lamela on 2 lists so perhaps the contribution of these players are undervalued.

Tottenham have been drawn to face Israeli side Maccabi Haifa in the UEFA Europa League.

It will be the second time Spurs have faced an Israeli club in European competition, the other occasion being a Group G tie in the UEFA Cup in 2007 against Hapoel Tel Aviv away.

Spurs won 2-0 the away ties with goals from Robbie Keane & Dimitar Berbatov.

For the first, Robbie Keane sent Steed Malbranque down the left and his cross was rammed into the corner of the net from 12 yards by the Spurs skipper.

For the second, Malbranque brilliantly beat his man and floated in a lovely cross that was begging for Dimitar Berbatov to head it home, which he did with his usual minimum fuss.

Spurs were managed at the time by Juande Ramos.

"I was impressed with the performance, although we didn't play at our best, and I was also thinking about the Wigan match.
"There were occasions when we should have done better to try to get another goal.

"We didn't play well enough but after the two goals I felt better and I could think about Sunday."

Tottenham: Robinson, Stalteri, Chimbonda, Dawson, Young-Pyo Lee, Lennon, Zokora, Jenas (Boateng 68), Malbranque (Defoe 56), Berbatov, Keane (Bent 68).
Subs Not Used: Cerny, Kaboul, Tainio, Huddlestone.

Booked: Berbatov, Defoe, Boateng.

Goals: Keane 26, Berbatov 31.

Att: 10,000.

Ref: Grzegorz Gilewski (Poland).

There are some names that inspire memories.

In 4 games in all competitions so far this season we have scored 10 goals and conceded 5, which is too many.

Son has 4 goals
Kane has 3 goals
Lamela has 1 goal
Ndombélé has 1 goal

Kane has scored 247 goals for club and country, 144 in the Premier League and 5  against Sunday's opponents Newcastle United.

Kane is just 3 goals behind Teddy Sheringham (147) and 5 behind Les Ferdinand (149).

Our record against Newcastle is symmetry.

Spurs Wins: 22
Draws: 6
Newcastle Wins: 22
Goals Spurs - Newcastle: 75-75
