Spurs looking at Keeper, CB and striker in France

Morning everyone, before I get into the French news and comments from the president of their Premier League about the trouble French football clubs are in, here is news on two teenagers we are interested in.

Tottenham, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal are among the clubs interested in signing 16-year-old (17 next March) former Le Havre midfielder Tom Cadoche.

The youngster is highly-rated as shown by the clubs following him but available on a free transfer when his contract expires on 30 June, but there will of course be development costs to pay.

Another youngster Spurs are interested in for the future is 18-year-old (19 in December) talent Xavier Mbuyamba.

Last summer, Barcelona signed the young right-footed centre-back from Dutch second-tier side MVV Maastricht for £279,000.

The young defender made a good impression in the Catalans’ youth setup and trained with the first

The Dutch U-19 international has turned down an offer to extend his contract and is now expected to leave the club in the summer, his agent, Carlos Barros, told Dutch news outlet Voetbal International.

“Almost all big clubs in Europe have informed themselves about Xavier. Real Madrid are one of them but this would be a sensitive transfer of course. Juventus and Inter are interested, as well as top clubs from England and Germany. Chelsea are in the pole position. With them, we have been in extensive talks last year already, of course.”

Tottenham made initial contact and have since offered terms to the representatives of Rennes centre-forward M'Baye Niang

The 25-year-old (26 in December) Senegalese (15 caps, 4 goals, 2 assists) striker has started 86% of his clubs Ligue 1 games, played 85% of the total minutes available to him and participated in 31% of their goals.

In the league he has scored 10 goals and had 2 assists in 26 games, while in all games (36) he has scored 15 goals and had 2 assists.

French newspaper L'Equipe suggests Rennes have asked for £13.35 million (€15m - AUS$24.23m - US$16.81m). for their goalscorer.

Clubs in France have been hit by the pandemic worse than other leagues because French clubs have to submit accounts annually to Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion (DNCG).

Ligue 1 clubs' finances and budgets are managed by the DNCG, an organisation set up bin cooperation with the Government under the administration Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP)  and is responsible for monitoring the accounts of professional football clubs in France.

They have far reaching powers, thus French clubs have until the end of the month to balance their books, that means player sales and this season with the pandemic, player sales have become even more important.

Bernard Caïazzo is the president of Saint-Étienne  and president of the Premier League union and he spoke to France Bleu Saint-Étienne Loire about the impact the coronavirus crisis will have on Ligue 1 clubs.

He said that the loss of revenue will mean that many clubs will simply not be able to recover from the pandemic.

"It is necessary to finish the championship at all costs. Even if it means ending the exercise in July-August, and resuming in stride.

"Currently, all of the clubs lose around €250 million a month. And we cannot play until the curve is reversed. That is to say in July-August, at best on June 15.

"I am very, very, very worried about all the clubs. Without state aid, within six months, half of the pro clubs will file for bankruptcy.

"The five major European championships have already lost €4 billion, the French championship between €500 million to €600 million.

"The difference between the general economy and football is the big wages. And partial unemployment is €6,000 maximum. There are not many footballers who earn €6,000. Behind, it is the clubs that will have to pay. And currently, they have no more revenue.

"There will be no transfer window.

"Our neighbours will not have the resources to buy players this summer.

"However, Ligue 1 clubs are counting on sales by the end of June, not to mention the €170 million in fewer TV rights, and the shortfall in the box office for clubs.”

This should explain why the Premier League is so determined to finish the season, clubs simply need to money from TV and broadcasting revenue to survive, plus the fact their would be legal challenges from club with any other solution.

If French clubs are in financial trouble, are there any more players in the league Spurs are looking at?

There sure are and one such player is Stade de Reims defender Axel Disasi.

The 22-year-old (23 next March) French U-20 (3 caps) centre back is available for a fee believed to be in the region of £13.35 million (€15m - AUS$24.23m - US$16.81m).

Disasi has started 86% of league games he was available for, playing 96% of the minutes available to him and participated in 3% of the league goals.

He is being chased by many clubs including West Ham, Arsenal and Sevilla but the Stade de Reims president informed the Spanish press, “I know of the interest from Sevilla and there have been talks, but it will not be easy. He is closer to a move to the Premier League.”

Spurs are also interested in signing 24-year-old (25 in July) Lille and French U-21 (6 caps) goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who may be keen to team up again with former goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos.

The played in the same team with Kingsley Coman in PSG youths teams and has kept 12 clean sheets in 28 Ligue 1 games this season.
