TRANSFER TALK

Tottenham target Wilfried Zaha doesn't want to sign a new contract at Crystal Palace and while Spurs are negotiating, there is no agreement yet.
Sam Allardyce has gone the same way as Tony POulis, a chat with the chairman over transfer plans for the summer and resign. Clearly he didn't get the support he was hoping for, which must be a worry for Palace fans. A lack of continuity could see them in a relegation fight yet again when really they should be climbing to mid-table safety by now with the amount of money in the Premier League.
It is tough for newly promoted sides, but when a grip has been established and you start getting Premier League income for a second year you have to build to secure your status. The business must be successful for the club to be successful, the business pays for the football. You have to question why so many clubs don't grow, they seem from the outside to just rely on TV money.
It took a long time for Daniel Levy to build Tottenham and had to endure fans who don't understand the realities of modern day football, that a successful business is absolutely vital.
I don't know, but I suspect that Allardyce wanted to ensure the Crystal Palace Players' Player of the Year stayed and that the chairman was happy to sell if the right offer (£30m) came along. That is the figure it seems Palace want, Levy will try to negotiate it down or get performance related clauses in the deal.
I doubt we'll be able to get the deal we have for Sissoko, that if we sell him this summer, we no longer have to pay an annual fee for him, thus considerably reducing the transfer fee we have to pay Newcastle United.
Spurs would like to sign Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich but he, as expected, wants to join perennial Italian champions of UEFA Champions League finalists Juventus. Bruma remains an option and there are plenty of other we have been scouting so a deal for Zaha is no certainly, despite our keen interest.
