German newspaper Bild have reported that Tottenham Hotspur scouts have been watching talented 1860 Munich midfielder Julian Weigl.

The German second division side share their stadium with giants Bayern Munich, although now in effect they rent from them, so Spurs scouts have recently been regular visitors there watching Julien Green, who is now on loan at Hamburger SV this season with Lewis Holtby.

The paper report that Tottenham and Liverpool scouts watched Weigl play for the Germany Under 20 side in their 1-0 win over Turkey on Saturday.

Weigl has played four full matches and two partial games so far this season and the central midfielder, he can also play defensive midfield, has one assist to his name, he also has three bookings already.

1860 Munich sports director, Gerhard Poschner, has positive things to say of the youngsters progress. Weigl is only 19 but is believed to have a £4m ($6.24m - €5m) buyout clause in his contract.

"Julian is on the right track and we are proud that he is a Lion."

As with any scouting it all takes time, player get watched over extended periods, often years before a club makes a move for them. Weigl is just one of many that Tottenham keep a regular eye on.
