I have been reporting throughout the summer the Spurs Scouting News, bringing you details of who we have been watching and where we have been sending people. We have spread our net wide in the search for talent and we'll be keeping an eye on the next big striker emerging from Serbia.

Spurs Scouting News - set to become the best striker in Europe


Tottenham Hotspur are sending a scout on Saturday to watch the 149th derby game between Red Star Belgrade (FK Crvena Zvezda) and Partizan Belgrade in the Serbian Super Liga at 5pm.

After 8 games Red Star ae top of the table having won 6 and drawn 2 to amass 20 points. They have scored 19 goals and conceded just 6. Partizan sit 3rd in the table having played 7 games. They have 5 victories and 2 defeats to amass 15 points. They have scored 21 goals and conceded 9, both sides are free scoring it seems.

Hotsport report that Red Star are expecting a full house with a host of scouts confirmed as attending from around Europe including; PSV (Holland), Fenerbahce (Turkey), Toulouse (France), Bordeaux (France), Saint-Etienne (France), Ajax (Holland), Sevilla (Spain), Tottenham Hotspur, Bayer Leverkusen (Germany), Turin (Italy), Olympiakos (Greece) and PAOK (Greece).

Players on show may well include 19-year-old (20 next April) Serbian U-21 international attacking central midfielder Marko Grujić (Red Star Belgrade).

Then there is 17-year-old (18 in December) Serbian U-19 international striker Luka Jović (Red Star Belgrade) for whom Arsenal were linked with a £3-million move. He is known as the 'Serbian Falcao' and has scored 3 goals in 400 minutes (4 1/2 games) this season.

Fourfourtwo magazine report him as being on course to become the best striker in Europe. Portuguese paper O Jogo suggest Benfica are prepared to offer him a large contract and a guarantee of first team football, but face competition from Arsenal and Tottenham.

Also 19-year-old (20 in December) Serbian U-20 international defensive midfielder Srđan Plavšić (Red Star Belgrade).

Also interesting scouts is 19-year-old (20 next July) Serbian international right winger (left footed) Andrija Živković (Partizan) who Chelsea were reportedly were lining up a bid for this summer, he has caught the eye with 3 goals and 2 assists in 390 minutes (4 games 30 mins) so far.

Interest doesn't stop there though, there is also 18-year-old (19 next August) Serbian U-20 international striker Ivan Šaponjić (Partizan) to take note of and 23-year-old (24 next February) Serbian international central midfielder Darko Brašanac (Partizan).
