No Yarmolenko bid from Everton

Plenty of comments on this blog moaning about Everton having a bid for 25-year-old (26 in October) Andriy Yarmolenko accepted and that Spurs should have grabbed him when in fact it was a parody Twitter account, Everton haven't had a bid accepted al all.

False alarm, lads. tweeted saying Everton had had a bid accepted for Yarmolenko. It appears they fell for a parody account.

It doesn't seem to be an easy business signing a Ukrainian footballer, Yevhen Konoplyanka agreed deals all over the place it seems and simply didn't turn up to sign them, Stoke thought they had got him but he never showed up.

Don't want to tar all with the same brush but I would ask how many Ukrainian players have signed for Premier League clubs and how many have been a success? he may have talent but he hasn't been playing in a top league, there is a big risk factor involved, we don't want to buy another Lamela.

I don't know enough about him to know whether he would be a good signing or not, the odd clip here and there or a highlights tape is no way to judge a player properly and certainly not a way to form a hard and fast opinion. It has to be remembered what he does week in week out is against weak opposition so it doesn't naturally translate that he can reproduce it in the unique environment of the Premier League.
