Spurs start to get busy

With player departures looking imminent Tottenham can now step up their pursuit of targets. The wage bill always has to be remembered as does knowing players are leaving even if they have not been announced.
When you know you have all but sold a player then you can earnestly seek to fulfil the hole they create in the squad, until such time it is all hypothetical. The preliminary work has to be done so some moves are easy, others require a lot more work.
The Daily Telegraph are reporting that Spurs are sending a delegation to Germany to work on three deals, Sven Bender, Christoph Kramer and Timo Werner.
Tottenham are known to be keen on Dortmund defensive midfielder 26-year-old (27 in April) Sven Bender, who also interests Arsenal, Liverpool and Southampton, all three having made contact with his representatives.
An alternative to Bender is the Bayer Leverkusen defensive midfielder Christoph Kramer. The 24-year-old (25 in February) is thought to be ahead of Bender in preference but may be more difficult to acquire. With Dortmund officials, Tottenham can discuss the possibility of Roberto Soldado going the other way given that the Bundesliga outfit have recently made an inquiry for him.
Kramer is the German who was concussed in the World Cup Final in Brazil against Argentina last summer, where inexplicably he was allowed back on the field, so much for the new rules on head injuries when a player is concussed or unconscious. That does rather show his importance to them though and even now he has no recollection of the first half of that game.
The third name on the shopping list is longer term target Timo Werner, the 19-year-old (20 in March) German striker at Stuttgart, who is very highly rated and thought to be the striker who will lead the German line in future.
While nothing is ever certain with Emmanuel Adebayor he has got the message that he will be frozen out at Spurs possibly without even having a squad number . A move to Aston Villa is on the cards with a season-long loan deal having been agreed where he will be reunited with Tim Sherwood. With that deal looking as though it could well happen soon Spurs have stepped up our interest in securing a striker.
Timo Kramer and Saido Berahino of WBA are just two of the possibles. The Baggies have offered Berahino a double your money wage offer and Spurs are waiting to see what he does before making any firm move but Werner is potentially the better player.
The Telegraph quote a figure of £10 million (US$15.51m - AUS$21.29m - €14.13m) for Kramer which has of course been picked up by everyone, yet a month ago the figure being quoted was £7.5 million (US$11.63m - AUS$15.97m - €10.6m), which sounds more like a realistic Tottenham opening offer. Transfer negotiations are usually a bit of a cat and mouse affair with both sides looking for the best deal with claim and counter claim in the press.
