Barcelona rule out Arda Turan loan move to Spurs

There has been talk in some quarters of Tottenham wanting to take Barcelona new signing Arda Turan on loan because the Spanish champions have a transfer embargo and he can not represent the club competitively until January.

It seems a bit stupid to have a transfer embargo but allow a club to transfer and buy players, rather defeats the object of a transfer embargo. UEFA do like to pander to the big clubs though, the deal they struck with Manchester City over Financial Fair Play irregularities was a complete joke. They first imposed a fine which City appealed and managed to negotiate it down to a paltry £49 million, £32 million of which was suspended, so in effect only a £17 million fine or in layman's terms nothing.

Tottenham only want to loan players they can have a fixed price buy option for at the end of the loan, taking a player until January just upsets the season as you have then to replace him and players cost more in the winter window than they do in the summer window. A loan always seemed a far-fetched idea and Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique has ruled our a loan move for Turan.

Enrique was making his first press conference of the new season ahead of a tour to America.

“[Arda Turan] can’t play until January. It’s not ideal, but I want him to stay with us until then. He’s not being considered at the moment, neither will the transfer of Arda Turan will considered."
