Sheringham to face Spurs

New Stevenage boss Teddy Sheringham gets an early chance to renew ties with Tottenham Hotspur as his League Two side will take on a Tottenham Hotspur XI in a pre-season friendly this summer.

Tottenham are not the only former club he will face in pre-season as he embarks on a managerial career. His side will play Championship side Nottingham Forest on Friday, July 17th at 7.30pm. Sheringham was at Forest between 1991 and 1992, playing 56 games and scoring 21 goals before his move to Spurs for £2.1 million (US$3.21m - AUS$4.2m - €2.92m) after scoring the first ever goal on Sky Sports.

Stevanage then take on Millwall, who were his first club, on Saturday, July 25 at 3pm. Sheringham played 241 games for Millwall scoring 68 goals between 1985 and 1991 before moving to Nottingham Forest.

A Spurs XI will then play at the Lamex Stadium on Saturday, August 1 at 3pm. Sheringham was with Spurs from 1992 to 1997 when he joined Manchester United before returning to Spurs 2001 and stayed until 2003 when he moved to Portsmouth.
