We like one of our own at Tottenham

Danny Murphy joined Tottenham in 2006 for £2 million from Charlton Athletic, having previously spent 7 successful years at Liverpool where he won an FA Cup, 2 League Cups, a Community Shield, UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup as well as finishing runner-up in the Premier League.

We like one of our own at Tottenham

He knows about the game, the Premier League, success and knows about Tottenham. When he talks about Tottenham people should listen and take note but fans tend to stick their fingers in their ears if it's something they don't want to hear. On this occasion it is though.

Former midfielder Murphy now works for as a pundit and during the Newcastle United game he told the watching public, after Mason had chipped for Adebayor to open the scoring, they love one of their own at Tottenham.

By that he meant we love a player the club have produced, a player we can identify with who is not just another money mercenary. Ryan Mason fits that bill but so does Harry Kane, who came on later in the game as a substitute. He is slowly making his way as a Tottenham player and bagged his first hat-trick for us on Thursday.

Southampton are said to be willing to pay £10 million to get the 21-year-old England Under 21 international but given Tottenham's problems up front there is little or no chance of a deal happening.

Tottenham may want Jay Rodriguez but still a deal involving Harry Kane would be a non-starter, players mentioned previously include Andros Townsend and Nacer Chadli, they would be far more likely to depart.

Harry Kane is one of our own and we want him to stay that way.
