Brief Report on remaining players

Of the remaining players Paulinho did little to advance his claims and looked an ordinary midfielder that you can find in any team in the country. He doesn't look anything like a £17 million player.

Harry Kane worked hard but he didn't come to terms with a bumpy and uneven itch. On such a surface when you have the chance to shoot you take it, attempting to cut inside gives the pitch the chance to have it's say and it did.

It would a good move around the outside to smash the ball against the bar in the opening minute and he linked well but couldn't find an end product.

Andros Townsend loves a blind alley and ran up as many as he could. He is just too interested in himself and having his own shots. Why then when he was given the ball in acres of space to run at goal and shoot did he go sideways across the pitch for someone to beat? He passed backwards and then ran into Aaron Lennon. How do you play with a player who does that, don't think anyone has figured that out.

He looked really unhappy to be subbed but it was hardly any wonder we looked more of a threat without him. He is not developing as yet.

Performance Reports
Hugo Lloris
Kyle Naughton
Federico Fazio
Jan Vertonghen
Ben Davies
Benjamin Stambouli

Roberto Soldado was lively when he came on and we looked a threat. His cross for Kane was superb, except Kane didn't try to head it for some reason. Soldado himself should have tried a header but went for a cross with his foot, unsuccessfully.

Aaron Lennon had to do as much defending as attacking. He switched with Townsend, made some runs forward but not quite picked out. One of his anonymous game where he does a job without doing much going forward.

Erik Lamela was on a different level to anyone else in midfield when he came on, suddenly thanks to his prompting we looked a threat and had a goal threat. He needs to carry the work he does in these games into the Premier League regularly. He always threatened to create something.

Etienne Capour had 19 minutes in which he gave the ball away in a dangerous area with Vetonghen having gone forward. Apart from that a competent 20 minutes but Stambouli looks a better player.
