A captain not good enough to play, strange.

So a guy in the last year of his contract, who can arrange a free transfer in January for the end of the season is the new captain, or should I say club captain.
It is a strange choice, you would expect your captain to play every week but the Sunderland game was the first he had put in a half decent performance, even if he was at fault for not clearing the ball for the second goal.
Where does that leave Federico Fazio? Surely we have bought the UEFA Europa League winner to play in the Premier League alongside Jan Vertonghen. Even the commentators tell you Kaboul has got a mistake a game in him, which you can't have as a top four defender.
Does club captain mean just that club captain but not playing in the Premier League, leaving tat role for Hugo Lloris? Many will be surprised Emmanuel Adebayor is a vice-captain, I'm not, his attitude this season and when Tim Sherwood was in charge was excellent, he wasn't the only one to have rows with Andre Villas-Boas.
Aaron Lennon has been stripped of the vice-captaincy, is that Pochettino sending our longest serving player a clear message to leave the club in January?
Is Younes Kaboul going to be offered a new contract? You'd have thought if he has been made captain that this would have been discussed. Last season was his year to prove his fitness and earn a new contract, he didn't and hasn't. Is the same happening this year now?
Presumably he wants to stay, all our players seem to want to stay, even the one we refuse to pick in any squad. Presumably he wants to prove himself and earn a new deal.
I can only assume Pochettino was reluctant to give it to a goalkeeper who can't affect play on the field if we are playing a high line, he can't yell at Adebayor for instance can he. The Adebayor appointment as a vice-captain clearly shows Roberto Soldado will be second or third choice striker when he is fit. He better get his act together if he wants more.
Nothing against Younes as a captain, he'll do a fine job I'm sure but if we have bought Fazio, is Kaboul worth a place in the team?
