Spurs Stats vs Burnley and Antwerp preview

Antwerp-v-Spurs

Burnley 0 Tottenham 1

A hard fought (as we all new it would be) win that moved Spurs up to 5th just two points off the top and with the best goal difference in the league.

Plaudits all round for keeping their aerial threat at bay with no free-kicks given away from wide positions near our area, an important plan executed well.

Ben Davies given the nod at left-back because of his aerial defending ability with Reguilón no doubt used on Thursday, in a game we must win.

Securing promotion early is another important step to relieve pressure and allow squad players, and I'm thinking of the likes of Cirkin here, the chance of some minutes.

Anyway back to Burnley.

Tottenham’s record this season after 11 games: LWWWDWWWDWW
W8 D2 L1

Premier League top scorer: Son Heung-Min
Most assists: Harry Kane
Top-scoring club: Tottenham

Harry Kane 297 games, 198 goals, 39 assists
Son Heung-min 238 games, 95 goals, 51 assists

Harry Kane already has 8 assists this season, 7 of which have been to Son Heung-min.

That is the most after 6 games by any player from Europe's top five leagues (Premier League, Serie A, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1) in the last 10 seasons.

Harry Kane has directly contributed to 13 league goals (5G, 8A) this season, the most ever recorded by a player in the first 6 Premier League games.

Micky Quinn in 1992-93 is the only player to score more Premier League goals (10) after the opening 6 matches than Spurs forward Heung-Min Son (8) stated Sky Sports, but Micky Quinn was still at Newcastle United when the season started and was not a first choice having fallen out with Kevin Keegan.

He moved to Coventry in November of that season and then scored 10 goals in his first 6 games for Coventry, not the first 6 games of the season.

The Europa League continues tomorrow and it is important we secure passage to the next round as quickly as possible.

The aim this season must be a top 4 finish and winning this competition.

Do not forget it is an early kick-off 5:55 pm.

Random Tottenham Stats
  • The West Ham United game was Spurs’ 8th consecutive match where both teams have scored (BTTS) and our 3rd straight fixture with Over 5.5 goals.

  • That run has since ceased but could return.

  • It was also our 3rd straight fixture with Over 2.5 first-half goals and with the first goal scored by the second minute.

  • Unlike other seasons it seems we can start fast when we want to, is this something Mourinho is introducing at Spurs?
