Spurs signing right-back

Spurs signing right-back

Jeremy-Ngakia

Good morning Tottenham folk and welcome to another edition of Tottenham Tittle Tattle from THBN.

Today West Ham United are not very happy with us.

Tottenham Hotspur are rather interested in signing 19-year-old (20 in September) West Ham full-back Jeremy Ngakia on a free transfer this summer.

David Moyes has been trying to convince the teenager to sign a new contract but he has refused and informed the club he is leaving, I can tell you Tottenham is his intended destination.

Moyes has said he is surprised and disappointed, going on to say Ngakia had made a mistake.

He has turned down a reputed £5,000 a week contract after being handed his debut in January and like Ryan Fraser will not extend until the season has finished, thus becoming a free agent on 30th June.

“We are really surprised and disappointed that Jeremy is not going to stay at West Ham.

“We like him a lot, we’ve given him his debut and I’m a manager who has done that many times in my career, including Wayne Rooney, Ross Barkley, Jordan Pickford and others.

“Jeremy is another one and I feel he is making a mistake choosing not to stay with us. We’ve trusted him in big games and everyone likes him at the club.
“I also feel it’s a kick in the teeth for the academy, because they have developed a player for the first team and he’s not going to stay. We’re also really disappointed with his decision not to stay beyond June 30.
"I don’t agree with that and I also think it’s something the Premier League should not allow to happen, because it means the season is not starting and finishing in the same way.
“There’s nothing we can do about that, though, and we are still working with him. We like him, we want him to feel he’s been given the best service we can give and maybe there’s still a little hope that we can change his mind.
“We haven’t given up all hope of Jeremy realising he has got it wrong, but I have to say he has told me directly that it is not his choice to stay.”
That sounds like Moyes trying to lay a guilt trip on the young man in a last ditch attempt to change his mind.

Ngakia is seeking more than the £5K plus bonuses the Hammers are offering him. My understanding i that he wants £20,000 a week.

His agent and the club have disagreed over his valuation and it looks as if he has played his last game for the club.

He was born in Deptford so is English but qualifies also to play for DR Congo.

The right-back has started 44% of the games he has been available for, played 44% of minutes (4 games, 340 Premier League minutes) and has a goal participation score of 1%.

He sat on the bench against Sheffield United and Everton before being handed his debut in a 2-0 home defeat to Liverpool.

Three further games have followed, against Liverpool again in a 3-2 away defeat, a 3-1 win at home against Southampton and 1-0 away defeat to Arsenal.

He has a choice between Crystal Palace and Tottenham but I'm told he has chosen Spurs with opportunities for development in a problem role for us.
