Tottenham Transfer Targets 13 Strikers Comparison Chart
Tottenham Transfer Targets 13 Strikers Comparison Chart
Hello folks, today we'll take a look at some of the strikers Spurs are watching.
Spurs expect to have a clearer picture on funds available for transfers once the season resumes, however, it is expected that as we are losing more money per week than any other Premier League club that funds will be very tight.
The chart uses Harry Kane and Heung-min Son as benchmarks to compare the rest against. It is by no means a comprehensive list but a decent starting point.
From that list of candidates, who would be your choice bearing in mind our limited budget? The chart uses Harry Kane and Heung-min Son as benchmarks to compare the rest against. It is by no means a comprehensive list but a decent starting point.

There are three there playing in the same league, Habib Diallo 12 goals, 3 assists (league goal every 183 mins), Wissam Ben Yedder 18 goals, 7 assists (league goal every 121 mins) and M'Baye Niang 10 goals, 2 assists (league goal every 213 mins).
In the notes below I have added the minutes per league goal to help comparison and your decision. Harry Kane is scoring a Premier League goal every 152 minutes this season while Heung-min Son is scoring one every 194 minutes.
- Tottenham have contacted 29-year-old (30 next May) Wolves striker Raúl Jiménez and asked him to delay a decision on his future until the end of the season. Proven in England, a goal participation score of 46% and Wolves are thought to have reportedly lowered their asking price.
- League goal every 190 minutes.
- Habib Diallo is a 24-year-old (25 in June) Senegalese international and Metz striker who has 12 goals and 3 assists in Ligue 1 from 26 games. He is 1.86m tall and is under contract until 2022. A goal participation score of 55% is very high and for that reason alone is worth exploring. He is also a relatively cheap option with a better strike league rate than M'Baye Niang.
- League goal every 183 minutes.
- Tottenham Hotspur are among a host of European clubs who have expressed interest in signing AS Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder. The 29-year-old (30 in August) French international is 1.7m tall and is under contract until 2024. A goal participation rate of 56% but £26m more expensive than Diallo and playing in the same league.
- League goal every 121 minutes.
- 26-year-old (27 in October) Swedish international and 1.FSV Mainz 05 striker Robin Quaison is a player Spurs are monitoring very closely. His goal participation rate is a very healthy 37% and he has a good international record as well as being a cheap option.
- League goal every 193 minutes.
- Loren Morón has now signed a new contract at Real Betis and isn't an option this window, but other options look better on paper.
- League goal every 172 minutes.
- M'Baye Niang is a 25-year-old (26 in December) Senegalese striker (15 caps, 4 goals, 2 assists) playing for Stade Rennais. We have been watching him for years and his goal participation rate of 31% is good relative to his cost. Stade Rennais are in advanced negotiations to sign 20-year-old Scottish attacker Fraser Hornby from Everton.
- League goal every 213 minutes.
- Arkadiusz Milik is a 26-year-old (27 next February) Polish international playing at Napoli who is sought after. His goalparticipation rate is 27%,half that of some cheaper options. Milik wants to join Juventus, Napoli want him sold abroad, if he leaves.
- League goal every 137 minutes.
- Krzysztof Piątek is the striker Mourinho though wasn't worth the money being asked in January. he joined Hertha Berlin and they are already looking to sell him, which raises red flags. The 24-year-old (25 in July) has a goal participation rate of just 15%. Better options look to exist.
- League goal every 297 minutes.
- Danny Ings would be my preferred choice.I suggested we buy him when coming back from injury at Liverpool and he has gone on to show my thoughts were correct. having regained fitness he has been banging in the goals for Southampton and scored the winner against us. The 27-year-old (28 in July) has an excellent goal participation rate of 4% and is proven in the Premier League as well as being homegrown.
- League goal every 134 minutes.
- Mariano Díaz is rather the forgotten man. he has played just 65 minutes for Real Madrid scoring 1 goal against Barcelona. Most of the time he isn't even in the squad but he was a player we were very keen on. Would he flourish with more playing time? In 2017/18 he was on loan at Lyon. He scored 18 goals and had 5 assists in 34 Ligue 1 games, in total he played 45 games, scoring 21 goals and having 6 assists. The goalscorers ability is clearly there.
- League goal every 21 minutes.
- Olivier Giroud is known to you all, a French international whom we tried to sign as a stop-gap striker in January, someone proven in the Premier League and happy to be a backup striker in the Fernando Llorente mode.
- League goal every 221 minutes.
- Fábio Silva is a 17-year-old (18 in July) Portugal U-19 international making his way at Porto. Real Madrid are starting to take note of his progress reports in El Espanol suggest. Obviously a hard one to assess being all on potential and little senior football.
- League goal every 147 minutes
- Odsonne Edouard is the 22-year-old (23 in January) striker we have been linked with from Celtic who needs to test himself at a higher level.
- League goal every 100 minutes.
If there are any other striker you would like me to run the comparison with just list them in the comments below or Tweet me on Twitter or comment of Facebook.
Reports in France suggest we are actively looking to sign M'Baye Niang. We have spoken to the player about becoming Harry Kane's backup and the stumbling block to the deal may be the amount of football that can be offered.
His wife is from Marseille and he has been house hunting there, reportedly finding a villa in the city’s 7th arrondissement. Also he has told French TV program Canal Football Club that he is willing to take a pay cut to join Marseille. He earns roughly €220,000 a month.
A happy family seems to be taking preference over football so his signing looks doubtful.
