Spurs targeting Belgian Matt Le Tissier

Saido Berahino is not the only striker in the world and given that he is massively overpriced it makes sense to look elsewhere, especially as we don't have to worry about filling a home-grown quota.
There have been recent reports linking Tottenham with two players from Gent, wide man Moses Simon and striker Laurent Depoitre. The press are reporting that head coach Mauricio Pochettino has targeted the 26-year-old (27 in December), although it will be Paul Mitchell and his team who have put forward his name to Pochettino.
His agent, Rene Vijt, told the press there is plenty of interest in his client, but he has not undertaken any negotiations.
"As far as I know there have been no negotiations [with Tottenham], but there is a lot of interest in him. He is still under contract with Gent, and they want to remain champions so they will not want to lose him.
"Negotiations will be tough, but that matter depends on Gent and any agreement with any interested club.
"However, I believe Laurent would be a fantastic player in the Premier League. He is happy in Gent, but try to find me a player that does not want to play in the Premier League."
His is not the only one who can see a move in the near future for the striker, former Gent goalkeeper Frederic Herpoel thinks he'll join Tottenham in January.
"Depoitre, I think he will soon leave Gent. I do not know if it will be for January, but in any case I think he will go to Tottenham in England. He will remain at Gent for the remaining months, but then he will make his choice. He has no offer, but I know that Tottenham are closely following him."Johan "Jan" Mulder is a Dutch former footballer, writer, columnist, and TV personality now aged 70 and he compares Depoitre to forMatt Le Tissier.
"He reminds me of Matt Le Tissier, nicknamed Le God, the Papiss of Southampton FC and England in the nineties. Laurent is ninety kilos and just as stoic as Matt.
"A few English clubs seem to be interested in him. The lures in the winter transfer window. I'd wait if I was Laurent until the summer, until after the finals and then Tottenham Hotspur."
He has scored over 80 goals in Belgium since 2007 and his career has seen him steadily step up grades, could Spurs be the next step after his goal on his international debut for Belgium.
