Tottenham, Arsenal, Juventus, Wolfsburg vie for Embolo

Italian news outlet Calciomercato recently told us that Arsenal had started taking a more serious interest in a player we had been and still are tracking, 18-year-old Swiss international Breel Embolo. They felt the competition to Arsenal for his signature were Serie A champions and UEFA Champions League finalists Juventus.

Embolo looks to have a big future ahead of him and looked dangerous when he came on against the left side of the England defence. Different sources reveal different sides in competition to snap him up.

Swiss newspaper Blick believes the battle for the young FA Basel striker is between Tottenham and Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg.

Marcato 365 suggest that his transfer fee will soon be way in advance of the £10-million the British press are quoting and more into the Anthony Martial fee size.

Manchester United recently paid £58.80-million for the 19-year-old from Monaco, a massive £36-milion up front with £22.80-million linked to performances. That is not a world Tottenham can compete in so snapping talent up before it gets to that ridiculous level is paramount.

They do say that because of that fee that the Premier League is probably his next stop and Swiss daily Le Martin agree with them.

Their reasoning is not through inside knowledge though but based on the fact that they believe we still need strikers. They believe we may make an approach during the winter window which is just over 3 months away.

He has started the season well again with 2 goals and 2 assists in 5 Swiss Super League games and another successful season may take him out of our reach if clubs are going to start paying silly money for unproven talent.

Martial was playing in one of the top 5 leagues in Europe, Embolo is not, he is in a second tier league and that has an effect on any future fee. He won't reach the Martial heights when he is sold but he will have a fair bit of experience. As players develop quicker abroad one wonders where he is on a par with Berahino and whether he would in fact be a better option.

I have my doubts over Berahino's mentality, he doesn't seem very level headed, in fact he seems a bit of a problem when things are not going his way. The best way to judge a character is when things are not going well, you want to know how they react, how is he going to react for instance if he is sat on the bench playing second fiddle to Harry Kane?

We have to be sure of that answer before any purchase, I trust those buying him think they know.
