Did Blatter pay off Platini?

The corruption is being weeded out and it is long overdue. At long last the highest figures in football who's responsibility is to uphold the integrity of the game and being seen to be grey rather than white.

Swiss authorities Platini implicated in FIFA scandal

It is believed that Sepp Blatter, the head of FIFA, made a payment to Michel Platini, the head of UEFA, who had hoped to and no doubt still hopes to take over the top role. The Swiss Attorney General issues a statement which included:

"Mr. Joseph Blatter is suspected of a disloyal payment of 2.0 million Swiss francs ($2.04 million, 1.8 million euros) to Michel Platini, President of Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), at the expense of FIFA."

The 'disloyalty payment' the statement claimed was made in February 2011 for alleged work performed between January 1999 and June 2002.

Sepp Blatter being questioned with charges waiting, his number two suspended amid a host of allegations and now UEFA chief Michel Platini implicated. We, of course, have our own controversy over here with the West Ham Olympic Park fiasco that smells rotten to the core. When are we going to get an honestly run game?

Later tonight at 9pm the West Ham naming rights scandal.
