Spurs to make offer for 1.96m (6ft 5in) Norwegian.

In the last article I explained how there may be rule changes and ran through the existing home-grown rule after mentioning we identified Holland as a rich resource for young players, but we look elsewhere too.

There is a young 17-year-old midfield player we are watching regularly in Norway and it is believed we are going to be making an offer to him soon. Of course being young the media like to call him a wonderkid, a grossly over used term. We are not the only club highly interested in him, Arsenal, Liverpool, Roma and two Bundesliga sides are monitoring him.

Kristoffer Vassbakk Ajer is a Norwegian footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for IK Start in Tippeligaen, although he has scored 8 goals in 13 games with 2 assists (4 league, 4 cup). He has scored 1 goal in 2 games for Norway Under-17's and although a defensive midfielder can play anywhere centrally.

He is tall 1.96m (6ft 5in) and joined his current club from Rælingen FK in 2014 as a result of his parents moving to Kristiansand. Ajer captained IK Start against Lillestrøm back on 7 April, Lillestrøm were his youth side and Ajer became the youngest captain in Tippeligaen history at just 16, he was 17 on 17 April this year.

We have been sending scouts for months to watch him, a scout was at the FK Haugesund vs IK Start game on 30 May at which Ajer scored the only two goals after 50 and 89 minutes. The first was a simple tap-in that he thought may have been offside as he told C More (TV company covering Nordic countries) afterwards and the second was a breakaway that he slotted home well past the keeper.

"I thought the first goal was offside but when the linesman didn't wave it was incredibly delicious. I've learned that you should finish them off anyway. Before the 2-0 goal I got cramp and I struggled to get on the end of it."

Spurs also scouted him on 13 May when IK Start hosted FK Bodo/Glimt and drew 1-1. Ajer started the game and was withdrawn after 76 minutes.

Tottenham have had a preliminary word with his agent to see if he would be interested in joining Spurs and it's thought an offer from us will not be far away.
