Spurs alerted as Rabiot wants out at PSG

Tottenham have wanted to provide more strength in the Ryan Mason role next season. He is the box-to-box defensive midfielder with Nabil Bentaleb providing the defensive cover.

Giannelli Imbula is not a dead deal, it's a fall-back deal, he isn't our first choice. Player contracts end on 30 June, after that point there are then wage increases, loyalty bonuses for some, so clubs are keen to move players on.

Morgan Schneiderlin is top of the list and we are making every effort to secured one of our preferred targets before turning to Imbula, should he still be available. His agents will be well aware of the situation and be kept informed f the club know they are going to reach an agreement to allow Imbula to pursue other avenues, avenues he will already have lined up.

One of our primary targets for quite a while is French Under-21 international midfielder Adrien Rabiot. We Spurs fans know all about our pursuit of the 20-year-old (21 in April), the fact that we agreed terms with his mother agent and that a loan clause was inserted in his contract to allow him to join us in January.

Rabiot and Laurent Blanc, PSG coach, do not see eye to eye. His mother was demanding more game time for her son or he would refuse to sign, Blanc put him in the reserves for months as a result. He eventually signed but relations still haven't improved, Rabiot wants to be playing now, Blanc only wants to be giving him cameo roles.

Adrien Rabiot's mother has told Le Parisien that she has asked for a transfer, which presumably means sombody has come in for him, it could be us, it could be Arsenal, it could be someone else, time will tell.

"Adrien loves PSG, he’s attached and would love to make a career for himself there, but it’s not possible..He needs 35 games per season to continue his progression, and this won’t happen at PSG next season. I’ve asked for a transfer."
