Sepp Blatter - "I have not resigned"

Sepp Blatter is a man desperate to cling onto power with many areas like Africa in his pocket, now hw is claiming he hasn't resigned at all.

There have been reports in Switzerland that he is thinking of standing for re-election again, although this has since been denied, but with Blatter that obviously makes no difference whatsoever.

In his first public appearance since, what has been assumed, was a resignation Blatter, unsurprisingly has changed his tune. he has previously spoken of the messages asking to stand again from Africa and others, no points for guessing why.

Clearly he is now planting seeds to have an about turn given that Swiss investigators have said it could take years to investigate the evidence from FIFA. Despite saying on 2 June he would not run in the nxt election, he told reporters;

"I have not resigned, I put my mandate in the hands of an extraordinary congress.
"I will urge the executive committee to organise an extraordinary congress for the election of my successor at the earliest opportunity.

"I shall not be a candidate, and am therefore now free from the constraints that elections inevitably impose, I shall be able to focus on driving far-reaching, fundamental reforms that transcend our previous efforts."

It appears 78-year-old Sepp Blatter will be in power until at least next July and clearly he has no intention of going anywhere then. I have no doubt the extraordinary congress will 'amazingly' ask him to stay on and fulfil his term. It will after all contain the people he has in his pocket and who may have a vested interest in keeping corrupt activities covered up.

The last two elections he has staged have shown his power base, certain federations will back him regardless, a transparent honest organisation may not afford them the opportunities they have now.
