Dele Alli scoops League One Player of the Month

Newcastle United has a £5 million bid accepted but Alli chose to come to Spurs turning down Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, among others. The press have speculated the fee was £5 million for |Spurs but there is no confirmation of that, indeed I suspect it is probably a little less.

He is expected to develop into a future England international and has been compared to Steven Gerrard, reports suggested Brendan Rogers saw him as his captains long-term successor. His boss at MK Dons is in no doubt the 18-year-ols is going to the top.

“It’s been quite a month for Dele and I was extremely impressed with the way he handled it all.
“He is mature beyond his years and that is translating onto the football field with some terrific performances.
“We’re all immensely proud of Dele for his achievements but I know he’s fully focused on maintaining his excellent form for the remainder of the season.”
Mauricio Pochettino ran the rule over him when he saw MK Dons humiliate Manchester United and raved about him afterwards, that game confirmed he wanted him at Spurs.

"We believe in him. As a club we decided to sign him. He is a good player for the future. And now he is our player. We will analyse him but he is a good signing for the future.
"For now, he needs to stay calm and play for is team like before. When the time comes for him to come to work with Tottenham he will be ready. I think he is a very good signing for us."
