England's past vs England's future
2 min read
The North London Derby this weekend sees England past in the shape of Theo Walcott come up against England's future in the shape of Dele Alli.
The Spurs star picked up the London Young Player of the Year Award during the week while his manager Mauricio Pochettino picked up the London Manager of the Year Award.
This season 26-year-old (27 on 16 March) Theo Walcott has scored 4 Premier League goals compared to 19-year-old (20 in April) Dele Alli's 7, Walcott has 2 assists while Dele Alli has 5. In all competitions, Walcott has scored a total of 6 goals and has 6 assists
It takes Walcott 212 minutes to score or have an immediate hand in a goal in the Premier League while Alli reduces that time to 153 minutes. In all competition, Walcott has 6 goals and 6 assists while Alli has 7 goals and 7 assists.
Theo certainly likes his London derbies but fair play to him, he has offered to provide Dele Alli with any assistance he can, having been a youngster in the England squad himself at the expense of Aaron Lennon.
"Seeing him for the first time in the flesh, he's a big lad. He's very classy on the ball and he's only 19 so he's got a long England career ahead of him, and with Tottenham as well.
"He's in the spotlight straight away. I'm always there for him as I obviously was in the England squad at the early age of 17. I've been through it so he's always got plenty of people here to talk to. Looking at him, he's the sort of player who'd be able to deal with anything."
