How much have Spurs improved in a month

What difference does a month make? That is the question we will have answered tomorrow when we take on Chelsea at 5.30pm at White Hart Lane.

We played Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday December 3rd and although we had more possession we didn't look like scoring after the first 15 minutes.

Tottenham XI: Hugo Lloris, Vlad Chiriches, Federico Fazio, Jan Vertonghen, Ben Davies; Nabil Bentaleb, Ryan Mason; Aaron Lennon, Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela; Harry Kane

Spurs Subs: Michel Vorm, Kyle Naughton, Nacer Chadli, Eric Dier, Paulinho, Roberto Soldado, Younes Kaboul

Chelsea were hot favourites with Spurs only having started to show any sort of potential in the previous game against Everton. There had been a splitting of the squad into players who have bought into what Pochettino is trying to achieve and those who don't think it will work.

The sides performance has picked up since those not with the head coach have been told he is staying and they had better do as instructed, leave or rot. Certain players have hardly been seen since and others just given peripheral roles where they have to prove their commitment.

Chelsea won the game easily, they were 2-0 up after 22 minutes with goals from Eden Hazard and Didier Drogba. From then Chelsea controlled the game even though we had most of the ball, they let us play in front of them, allowing us to create very little. We started the game fast and had chances to go ahead through the wing play of Aaron Lennon but we didn't take them.

Vertonghen headed over after 5 minutes before Harry Kane headed against the bar, Kane again missed the target after 12 minutes then a tame Lamela shot after 14, Chelsea then took the lead after 19 minutes.

For the remainder of the first half and the second Chelsea didn't really have any alarms, they added a third through Loic Remy who easily made Vertonghen look foolish before slotting home into the far corner.

The upcoming game you wouldn't expect to be so simple but Chelsea are quite happy for the opposition to have the ball and keep their shape, waiting for a mistake that they then punish ruthlessly. They always seem confident that we won't create much however much of the ball we have. For the last few games that is how it has gone, will tomorrow be different?

We battled hard against Manchester United and could have won it, but we could also have lost the game in the first-half. The game against Chelsea is probably the ultimate test this season for us, against Manchester City it is open games with both teams having chances whereas against Chelsea it is tighter with few chances.

Being clinical wins these games, we weren't clinical against United and haven't trained ourselves to be clinical. It's a process which will be helped by the late goals we are scoring, nicking victories, I'll be happy if we can nick a victory tomorrow but hopefully we'll create more than we have in the last few games against them.
