OK with news that Schneiderlin is a firm favourite to join Spurs despite the public noises I've dug up articles on: Why Sandro is leaving Spurs and then as Nabil Bentaleb is the only World Cup players to have travelled to Finland an article on why Bentaleb is right for Pochettino's system.
Tottenham will be wanting Pochettino to improve Bentaleb further and Danny Rose, who may surprise us the way he surprised us with his performances at the start of last season.
Right let's get into the Tottenham News Shorts - Issue 42 which is a quick one with a game today and concerns recent news about Helder Postiga, Nacer Chadli, Tottenham Hotspur squad, Tottenham history, Morgan Schneiderlin, Jay Rodriguez, Ronaldinho and pictures on the way to Finland.
Happy 32nd Birthday to Helder Postiga who was with us in 2003/04. A £6.25 million (€9m) uy he scored 1 league goal vs Liverpool and a League Cup goal vs Manchester City. He went back to Porto in a deal that brought Pedro Mendes to White Hart Lane.
Also Happy Birthday to last summers Belgian signing Nacer Chadli who is 25 today.
On this day in Tottenham history we have played 4 overseas teams, PSV Eindhoven (Holland) 1980 L 2-4, Jonkopings Sodra IF (Sweden) 1988 D 1-1, Fiorentina (Italy) 1997 L 2-0 (David Howell Testimonial) and South China 2009 L 2-0 in Hong Kong.
We have also played 2 Scottish sides on the day Heart of Midlothian 1969 D 1-1 (A) and Glasgow Rangers 1986 D 1-1 (H)
In 12 games on this day we have failed to score in 5 and scored 1 goal in 4, leaving just 3 games where we have scored 2 or more W2 D6 L4 F11 A14. We haven't scored on the last 4 games on this day.
Ronaldinho is close to joining Thierry Henry at New York Red Bulls. The 34-year-old Brazilian playmaker left Atlético Mineiro could take over Henry's star mantle when the 36-year-old Frenchman retires, his contract ends at the end of this season.
Finally today some pictures of the boys on their way to Finland.

The Tottenham Hotspur squad for Dagenham & Redbridge friendly today at 3pm is subject to change. Of the World Cup players only Nabil Bentaleb has travelled to Finland, no doubt so Pochettino can have a look at him.
Whether any of the World Cup players will be added to the squad we'll have to wait and see but I'd be a little disappointed if I were in Dagenham & Redbridge shoes, hardly the strong team we said we'd send, it's an U21 team instead.
Spurs XI squad: Voss, Ball, McQueen, Lesniak, Sonupe, Winks, Miller, Onomah, Lameiras, Carroll, Ceballos, Oduwa, Akindayini, Obika, Coulibaly

Tottenham remain confident of securing the signings of Morgan Schneiderlin and possibly Jay Rodriguez after the first game of the season. As usual it seems their might be late transfer window business for Spurs, it wouldn't be a window without it.
Southampton are in turmoil because the owner is preparing the club for sale having stripped what she can, a reasonable team rather than anything more is good enough, footballing success is not on the agenda, which is why Pochettino left and all the players. Training facilities are more important for a sale. Schneiderlin has no desire to stay there whatsoever so we now have the 'his mind isn't in the right place' mantra which we have all heard before.
