Tottenham Transfer News Recap

The transfer merry go round continues so here is a quick recap of Tottenham Transfer News.

Tottenham Transfer News

Loïc Rémy looks like he's going to Liverpool on a 5-year contract with Arsenal refusing to match his QPR wages. That leaves Arsenal in the market for a striker and they have several options, home and abroad, Wilfried Bony being one of them.

Will have to wait and see how that pans out but Tottenham have an offer on the table for Wilfried Bony and if Remy joins the Merseyside club that takes him and Liverpool out of the equation. Romelu Lukaku is said to want to return to Everton so Spurs look like missing out on him as well.

Just shows why a club doesn't just go after one target but has several options, discuss potential deals or put offers to clubs and wait to see what happens. They will have an ideal option plus back-ups or will simply see which of several deals comes to fruition first, depending upon what that club wants.

At centre-back Steven Caulker it seems interests all the lower mid table clubs, as again the top clubs who looked at him aren't interested in paying the wages he is said to be asking. QPR want him and having signed Rio Ferdinand it would probably be the best long term career move for him. It's not everyday you get to learn from one of the best so Caulker really ought to jump at the chance however it is believed he favours Southampton.

If Southampton sign Caulker that may make the possibility of Dejan Lovren leaving a bit easier. The Croatian does not want to play at Southampton next season and has even taken the unusual step of handing in a transfer request. Southampton however want to force him to play for them. Probable destination Liverpool.

Holland central defender Stefan de Vrij was thought to be leaving Feyenoord for Lazio but that deal has now fallen through. Manchester United are thought to be his other option. Tottenham have been linked previously but nothing has developed.

Back at Southampton Morgan Schneiderlin has again reiterated to the French media he wants to leave and is known to want to team up again with former boss Mauricio Pochettino. Nothing has changed in that situation since the World Cup despite Arsenal interest.

Left-back Ben Davies is believed to have passed a medical in Seattle or is flying back to London to have a medical depending upon which report you fancy. He'll be announced as a Spurs player shortly, patience people. That could well mean Danny Rose wanting to leave, he doesn't fancy the idea of competition presumably assuming he'd be second choice. Quite right Danny boy you would be.

Hull City are believed to be the club who have made an enquiry for him and West Ham United are also known to be interested. Rose is on record as having said he wants first team football so we'll have to see how that one develops after the USA and Canada pre-season tour is over. Sitting on the sidelines is Benoit Assou-Ekotto of course. He has one year left on his contract and if Rose were to refuse a new contract and leave Benny may be required to stay as cover.

Gylfi Sigurdsson is believed to be going to Swansea and was pulled out of the Seattle game 20 minutes before kick-off.

There are three schools of thought on Michael Vorm. One is that Tottenham want him on loan, another is that he is expected to join for £3.5 million which is around the figure I suggested he was worth, due to his age, a month ago and finally all Tottenham have done is make an enquiry and there is little to tell. Take your pick.
