How Should Spurs View the Carling Cup?

Tottenham Hotspur play Liverpool at home in the Carling Cup tomorrow evening.

Spurs are setting out to defend the cup they so rightly won against Chelsea at the end of February, but is it worth resting a few household names?

Benitez has already confirmed that Liverpool's captain, Steven Gerrard, will be rested. As to how many other Liverpool first-teamers will make the team is another matter.

I feel that Redknapp should give a run out to the "Prodigal 5", namely; Rocha, Boateng, Stalteri, Ghaly, and Taarabt.

Some say that Harry should rest Bent and play Pavlyuchenko in his place. I disagree with that notion as you shouldn't rest any striker that's in such great form. Harry could play Roman and Darren upfront together though.

  1. I think this cup is our most realistic chance of european football next season, so let's take it seriously
  2. obviously try and win but for me keep going in the uefa and concentrate solely on the league till x mas when hopefully we are in a much better position and the fa cup starts
  3. rest king if unfit - otherwise play a strong team - 1. we are the holders 2. its a good chance for europe 3. liverpool are resting a couple so its very winnable 4. our league position is healthier than it looked a week ago and 5. keeping the unbeaten run going would be great for morale. Anyway bale and hutton both sat out the last game, lennon has mainly been a sub, corluka didnt play in europe, jenas just missed one - most of our players should still be quite fresh.
  4. why on earth play people like boateng and stalteri (both not up to scratch)when people like hutton and ohara would benefit from game time
  5. I say don't let Benitez call our bluff - maybe bring in a few of the 'prodigal 5' as you say, perhaps on the bench - bringing on Taarabt for or alongside Modric if we're lucky enough to be in a safe position later in the game... Maybe.

  6. I think you should take it seriously as you are a pile of sh*t and have absoloutley no chance in any other competition so your only chance is in a cup where all the big clubs play there youth teams (that includes Stoke)

Let's look at the FINAL from last year - Mighty Tottenham = FULL STRENGTH, Chelsea + OH yeah, FULL STRENGTH - so go back to sucking your mummy's breasts and don't be such a sore loser (Spurs 5 Arse 1) - thought u'd be over that by now especially as we took another 2 points off u at ur crap ground and we played S**T!!!
