Is the Arshavin deal a sham?

As most Spurs fans already know, Andrei Arshavin is on the clubs radar and could become Tottenham Hotspur's biggest signing in history.
Is that really the case though? After all, it wouldn't be the first time a player has stated he wanted to leave his present club, only to be awarded with an improved deal - I use the scums' Adebayor as a prime example.
Also, it's the first time I've personally witnessed a players agent publicly appear on various radio stations as well as tabloids, and tell the worlds media that his client "has made up his mind about where he will be playing his football next season; that club being Tottenham Hotspur".
Only three weeks ago, Arshavin's agent was claiming that "he would only move to Barcelona". So what's changed?
We're either on the brink of the signing of the summer, or Arshavin and his management team are trying to flush another team out and bid against Tottenham' generous £17 million bid.
I think that by the end of the week, all the cards will be on the table.
Who wins, is anybody's guess?

Arshavins price before the Euros was circa €16m.
He plays a couple of games (he reminded people of George Best at his best) where he destroyed defences with his aggressive running and close control and lack of fear and scores (against admittedly poorish defensive opposition) and his purchase price( not his value) rockets to £22m sterling. Give me a break!!!!
Do Spurs need a player who will disappear when the going gets tough and then tougher still in the Premiership???? I dont think so.
I think we have sufficient attacking options in the squad right now but we DO need an hunter/kiler in midfield and another hunter/killer in Central defence. Not sure that Ledley is 100% or taht mobile either. Todays game against Borrusia Dortmund should …
He'll be at Spurs within a week. Guaranteed.
I hope and expect Spurs to sign Arshavin as a sign of things to come, pace, panache and real style... the Spurs way!
Are you kidding me? He played two amazing games against pretty tough opponents in the Euros, and he has played many great games for Zenit in the Uefa cup. Arshavin will be a hit in the Premier League. Ramos knows what he is doing.
We'll see.
And that's some crap trashtalk as that five year old doesn't even know how many titles we have won.
Please don't slate the poor wet spam fan who can't even remember when they won something.. no womder he's a bitter turd.
Jamie. COYS
1) Big games. Cups are won in big games. LEAGUES are won by spanking minnows week in, week out. I'm not worried if he disappears in big games. There are only eight big games, compared to thirty others - that's 90pts. Ronaldo disappears in big games. You need people who are going to run riot over weaker teams week in, week out. That's how leagues are won.
2) He's a world name. You need people to raise the profile, especially as we're not in the Champions League.
Celtic saw a Spurs team full of stars. Suddenly there isn't Berbatov at the top and then the rest. You've got Modric, Dos Santos, Bentley.
So many times Berbatov looked around him in frustration, at the Tainios, Malbranques, and (let's face it) Robbie Keanes - people below him. He can't do that now. It might be what his ego needs to remain grounded, and his ambition requires to keep him at Tottenham.
Shout-pointy-man. How many of you want to beat Liverpool to 4th spot this year?!
COYS!
I've got a big club!
Mine's bigger than yours!
Mine's massive!
Have you seen the size of our club!
Mine's getting bigger.
Look how big mine is!
Sort it out.
Wez must beat diry Arsenal..Arshavin will do dis my friendz
He was surrounded by mortals in the Russain team and will have the expected off day.
What stikes me is he seldom lose the ball in possession and is one fo the most efficient user of the ball.
If he live up to potential the money spend on him from Keane's sale will be a bargain.
There is no comparison in terms of talent, Arshavin is one of the stars in the world when he turn it on while Keane is just a very good premiership player.
