Wesley Sneijder Update


A fair few sites have said that Spurs have matched Ajax's asking price of £10 million for Dutch International, Wesley Sneijder.


We personally do not know where they are getting their information from as a short while ago we were told that Arsenal are in lengthy discussions with the Amsterdam based club as regards signing the excellent midfielder.


We can also add that Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neil has been trying to persuade Sneijder to join the Birmingham based club after their offer was accepted. Sneijder has declined a move to Villa at present, but things could change if Arsenal fail in their negotiations with Ajax.


Many Spurs fans, including THBN had hoped that we would have made a bid for the dynamic midfielder, who is two footed and can play anywhere in midfield. It seems as though this was nothing more than wishful thinking.


Should we make an attempt to sign Sneijder? Is he worth the £10 million that is being asked by Ajax?

  19. Couldnt agree more about this irrelevant sites - perhaps before Newsnow you could pass these stories as your own, but its so obvious most are cut and paste jobs. Independent and Mail have rumoured us to be in talks - until Sky or BBC has it I wont be getting my hopes up too high. One said we were looking at Guily a minute ago - Barca to Spurs?? We must of done better last season than I thought !

  31. My friend, who works for Ajax in the public department, told me last night that there was, as of yesterday, four bids in on Sneijder. Apparently both Villa and also Valencia (even though the press has dimissed them) have bid 9 mill £. Arsenal and Spurs have both matched what Ajax wants, and have both bid 10.2 mill £. The Ajax board met yesterday to discuss whether or not to accept this, and my friend told me that this seemed to be the case.
    The most interesting part though was Sneijders opinion on the matter. He apparantly had a good opinion on Jol, as Jol is a well respected manager in Holland, but seemed to want to join Chelsea because of his close friendship with former U21-team mate and current friend Robben.
    Anyhow, as it stands today, it seems as Spurs and Arsenal are the two horses going head to head for the youngster, who turns 23 tomorrow.

  34. If I was going to believe anyone about this story I would more inclined to believe a well regarded broadsheet newspaper The Independent over a fans site who could be a 14 year old boy in this bedroom.

    Personally believe this has been dream up by THBN not even sure about Arsenal’s interest in him. If and it’s a huge if they get this right maybe they might be taken seriously if not lets hope they jut disappear. We shall wait and see.
