Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur
Manchester United face a tough home game against a settled and arguably better Tottenham Hotspur squad under Mauricio Pochettino.
The wolves are hounding Jose Mourinho with talk of bust-ups behind the scenes and many a Man U fan unhappy with the fare being produced. Surely they knew what they were getting with Mourinho, a defensive minded game looking to capitalise on an opposition mistake and then defend a 1-0 lead.
That has been his basic plan for years.
Will we see a below-par season from them? Many think we will.
Last week United had a shock loss against Brighton & Hove Albion with fans complaining that the club hadn't signed Toby Alderweireld.
Brighton, trained by former Spurs full-back and coach Chris Houghton, won 3-2 and it could have been more, It is only 2 games, but it is the club’s worst start to a Premier League season since 2014/15.
Brighton's three goals in the first half was only the tenth time in United’s Premier League history they had let in three by half-time.
If Tottenham can record a third-straight win, it would make it our best start to a Premier League season since 2009/10.
Only five clubs have begun the new season with two straight wins.
Our back three was the first time we had started with the system since November 2017.
United have lost just two of their last 37 league games at home while Spurs have lost just two of their last 22 league matches anywhere.
However, we have just two wins at the ground in the Premier League era (1992-present) and haven't won since 2014, although perhaps we should have done.
Harry Kane has scored just once against United in seven league games – by far his worst rate against any of the five other Premier League teams not to be relegated.
Stats:
United have been leading at HT/FT in five of their last six matches.
Tottenham’s last three games have seen over 2.5match goals.
United have not won two in a row against Tottenham Hotspur since the 2014/15 season.

We could easily have conceded late in the first after Danny R mis-kicked a back-pass. On the other hand - though the challenge on Lucas M wasn't a pen IMHO - even though it was a robust challenge in the box - they could have lost their keeper in the second when he tripped Deli after he'd passed him towards an empty net. No card. No pen. Just a corner they were able to defend easily.
They got away with that, but didn't handle the pressure and pace in the second half and were roundly beaten.
Harry Kane booked for the second time this season. The last one was a borderline foul but never a yellow. This one wasn't even a foul. Valencia was more guilty of a foul as HK got the ball before AV made contact - but frankly even AV wasn't guilty of a yellow. Well, except maybe for the histrionics. A bit Neymar Jr-esque.
Some of their most threatening moves came after fouls should have been awa…
