Spurs, Juve, Barca, Milan and Inter all tracking João Cancelo

TRANSFER TALK

While Manchester City were held to ransom over Kyle Walker, Tottenham will not be held to ransom over our targets. Porto may have expected us to pay the full release clause but few player actually get sold for their release fees, they are just figures to ensure the club get a decent negotiated fee.

Pereira has been on loan for two season and is being offered a new contract simply to raise his release fee. We have extensively searched for a right-back across Europe and a name suggested by TMW that we are interested in is 23-year-old (24 next May) Valencia right-back João Cancelo. He is under contract until 2021, hence the fee.

Valencia are reported to be insisting on £22.03 million (€25m - AUS$36.86m - US$28.5m) plus add-ons, the same €25m release clause Pereira has and Juventus are interested in both players too. AC Milan, Inter Milan and Barcelona have all been reported to be tracking him.

Portuguese international (he has 4 full international caps, scoring 3 goals) Cancelo can operate as a wing-back or an out and out winger, as well as a right-back so offers the flexibility to operate in a back three system or a back four system.
