Consistency sees Vertonghen selected by FIFA 17 community
Belgian centre-back Jan Vertonghen makes the FIFA 17 Community Team of the Season.
Over the last month, the FIFA 17 community has exchanged messages on forums to help decide which players would be selected for the Gold, Silver and Bronze squads. Only those who appeared regularly could be chosen nd they couldn't have appeared in a Team of the Week.
Vertonghen has been superb at the heart of the Tottenham defence and really came to the fore in the absence of fellow Belgian Toby Alderweireld who injured a knee when the pair collided. With Vertonghen out injured the defencre sometimes looked ragged and was torn apart, but when the shoe was on the other foot Vertonghen seemed to keep a greater grip on the organisation of the back-line.
A surprise to many Spurs fans will be the inclusion of former player Federico Fazio who has recaptured his form in Italy.
