Lloris Spurs only world class player

I'm in whole-hearted agreement with Darren Anderton over supposed world class footballers and also side with Sir Alex Ferguson.

The media love to overhype players, the mainstream media after all professional writers, not football people. It is their job to cause controversy, to create talking points and establish a reaction, the reaction of you buying their paper, that drives their writing, not simply reporting the news. They have to take angles on a story rather than simply say it as it is.

If they have an agenda they look for angles on stories that would back that up, they make links between clubs and players that don't exist and then report them in future as if there has been a link. When it comes to discussing world-class players they are the last people to call upon.

What makes a world-class player, someone who can do it at a league level, but not produce it at international level? For me no, world-class is the best of the best, you have to be able to produce the ability in the major tournaments where the competition is the strongest. If you can't make your mark you are simply international-class, you can be very very good, but still only international class.

Gareth bale, Luis Suarez, Radamel Falcao, Neymar, Messi, Ronaldo, Hugo Lloris, these sort of players are world-class. Someone like Gary Neville who played 85 times for England and has a string of trophies to his name was international-class, Teddy Sheringham would be another. They may produce a world-class moment, but were not world-class players, despite being high quality.

Take someone like Erik Lamela, I don't think there is any doubt he has produced world-class moments, that Rabona, he has a tremendous amount of skill, but he doesn't produce world-class displays, tricks don't make a world-class player, that is show pony stuff for the crowd, end product is all that matters, the rest is entertainment.

I would say Hugo Lloris is the only truly world-class player we have at the moment.
