Total over reaction to Faxio display

There seem to be two distinct camps, those of us who believe the Manchester City game is more important with the three points at stake and those that see a League Cup tie as more important.



Alerderweireld and Vertonghem needed to be rested for the Premier League, which is always and was always going to take precedence, If you have players in a squad you have to use them, unless of course you are freezing them out to force them out of the club.

I have no problem with Fazio playing, he will need to play in Europe for us, he hasn't suddenly become a bad player, he has won more than most in our squad. So he made a couple of bad passes, so did Carroll so does that means Carroll should now not allowed to be anywhere near the team? It's the usual knee-jerk over reaction.

Rose was dreadful in the first game should he have not been allowed near the side? Why has Vorm got away scott free, it was a dreadful mistake for the first goal on his part and he continues to look like a flakey suspect keeper.

Who is going to remember this if we win the Premier League North London Derbies? Fazio should certainly play against Monaco to give our first choice pair a rest, it's a league as opposed to a one-off cup tie game.

The talk of manchester City definitely going to beat us so no point in resting our centre-backs is hardly conducive to winning, nobody will ever achieve anything with that sort of attitude. You have to give yourself the best possible chance of taking the points against City and that means preparing players for the game, not wearing them out.

  1. Totally agree! Being bombarded by negativity and hate after a bad day at the office is hardly going to inspire the boys to fight for us. No matter how important the game was to you. We need to support our team. Even if they disappoint sometimes.
  2. Good positive comments on here as opposed to some of the unintelligent crap elsewhere. How does Poch keep senior pros happy unless he plays them in matches like last night? Are we just going to keep them playing in training matches and completely wear out the normal first team to the point where they are unable to perform at their best on a Saturday?
    I too would love to play our best team in every match including against the ***** from down the road. But it's just not possible.
  3. I disagree. Poch could have very easily played Vorm, Fazio and Carroll next week against Monaco, in a competition which is no more important than the League Cup and frankly with less chance of us winning it, in addition to which the Europa League is just at a group stage, so unlike last night it is not a knockout round where the loser goes home. Whilst there is no excuse for some of the hysterical criticism and hate filled invective aimed at Poch, who overall has been doing a good job this season, nevertheless this was poor team selection, in a match which was of great significance to the supporters against our most bitter rivals.
  4. You seem to forget that players like Alderweireld played last Thursday and the game before that and the weekend, then you want them to play midweek and the weekend again before you would consider giving them a rest at Monaco.

    Win League Cup = Europa
