Spurs miss out on Mitrović
1 min read
Tottenham have looked at Aleksander Mitrović, the 27 goal Anderlecht striker being watched by all the top clubs in Europe.
According the Belgian news outlet HLN (Het Laatste Nieuws is a Dutch language newspaper based in Brussels) Mitrović is going to be signing a 5-year contract at Newcastle United. They have been negotiating and it is claimed a deal will be finalised this week. The press have been reporting Newcastle pulling out of the deal for Charlie Austin, who didn't want to move north anyway.
There are no reports of the fee but previous stories suggested Newcastle had had a bid of £15 million (US$23.34m - AUS$30.19m - €20.73m) accepted by Herman Van Holsbeeck, the Belgian club's General Manager. Sport Italia journalist Alfredo Pedulia had previously revealed that Tottenham had now made a strong move for the young striker but it seems Newcastle are now his destination.
