Man Utd target Jan Oblak as Hugo Lloris alternative
2 min read
Manchester United are preparing for life without David de Gea who as everyone knows is off to Real Madrid, a club any player can't really turn down.
Tottenham have made it perfectly clear that Hugo Lloris is not for sale under any circumstances and amid newspaper reports of Manchester United chasing the French international captain, Louis van Gaal's side have opened negotiations with Atlético Madrid over Jan Oblak reports Spanish paper AS.
Manchester United have already spoken to a third party to gauge interest and the :a Liga champions of 2013/14 are willing to do business at the right price. The 22-year-old (23 in January) keeper is himself open to a move if the clubs can agree a fee.
The Spanish club sign players and sell them on for big money regularly, Diedo Costa to Chelsea last season for £33.44 million (US$52.03m - AUS$67.30m - €46.21m) and they are looking to sell Mario Mandžukić this summer. Sergio Agüero to Manchester City, Radamel Falcao to Monaco and David de Gea to Manchester United are just some of the recent deals. The club needs to buy and sell players and they demonstrate that it doesn't always have to be harmful to their league position.
Oblak was signed from Benfica last summer for £14.08 million (US$21.91m - AUS$28.33m - €10.46m) and the Slovinian is talented. He has already won the Portuguese league when he replaced an injured Artur Moraes for Benfica in the 2013/14 season and conceded only 3 goals in 16 games, 15 of which were victories. His potential prompted Atlético to buy him despite his inexperience.
At the right price the Spanish side would be happy to cash in and with AS reporting he is Manchester United's number one target, he could be the United keeper for years to come.
