Kevin Wimmer, a 22-yeae-old Austrian centre-back has arrived from Cologne, Kieran Trippier, a 24-year-old right-back has arrived from Burnley, now Mauricio Pochettino is hot on the heels of central midfielders.
Sergi Roberto, a 23-year-old (24 in February) central midfielder is one player on the list from Barcelona, as is Marc Bartra, a 24-year-ols (25 in January) Spanish international centre-back, Pedro Rodriguez, a 27-year-old (28 in July) Spanish international winger and Ibrahim Afellay, a 29-year-old (30 in April) Dutch winger.
There are other we have been interested in like Cristian Tello, a 23-year-old (24 in August) Spanish winger, Gerard Deulofeu, a 21-year-old (22 in March) Spanish winger and others from La Masia, the famed Barcelona academy.
Targets are targets, you don't get them all, you have a list of names for every position so at any time you have somewhere to turn should you need to. We have heard recently that Luis Enrique, the Barcelona boss, has had a meeting with Sergi Roberto to tell him he is his reserve to Ivan Rakitić and Andrés Iniesta, the Croatian and Spaniard currently in the heart of the clubs midfield.
He has tried to convince him that he'll get plenty of substitute appearances, while Marc Bartra is said to be not expecting such a meeting coming from Luis Enrique for him. The noises about not wanting to sell him are to appease their fans ahead of their presidential election on 18 July.
Despite having a transfer embargo Barcelona are planning for January, when it is lifted and they want to sign the 22-year-old Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba. PSG, a massive wage offer from Manchester City and discussions with Juventus have revealed the extent to which Barcelona will have to go to get him.
Spanish paper Sport report that Pogba wants 12 million EUR salary, that's £165,000-a-week (US$262,037 - AUS$337,148 - €230,758). Barcelona had a kitty ready to sign him but they feel the total deal is going to cost £143 million (US$227m - AUS$292m - €200),
Juventus want in excess of £57.20 million (US$90.84m - AUS$116.88m - €80m) and Barcelona have other purcheses already made or wish to make.
On 7 June 2015, Aleix Vidal signed a five-year contract with Barcelona, for an £12.87 million (US$20.44m - AUS$26.3m - €18m) plus £2.86 million (US$4.54m - AUS$5.64m - €4m) in add-ons.
He can play in friendlies but the FIFA embargo for signing under-age players means he can't play competitively until January, little point in having a transfer embargo if you can still actually sign players.
They want to bring Denis Suarez back to the club and that deal will cost more, plus a midfield replacement for Xavi, all of which means they need to raise around £36 million (US$57m - AUS$73m - €50m).
PSG and Manchester City want to take Pogba now, Barcelona want to reach an agreement, leave him in Italy for a season and sign him next summer. If barcelona win the race for his signature then they will need to sell players to fund their plans and that benefits clubs looking to buy like ourselves.
Pedro Rodriguez wants to leave if he can increase his wages, despite signing a new contract until 2019, Vida is likely to restrict his chances. PSG have enquired and Barcelona will sell at around £14.3 million (US$22.71m - AUS$29.22m - €20m).
Gerard Deulofeu is leaving for Everton for £4.29 million (US$6.81m - AUS$8.77m - €6m), the deal is expected to be finalised this week and Marc Bartra has to decide whether he wants to be fifth-choice centre-back or leave by the end of the month. Both ourselves and Liverpool have made him offers.
Juventus, Inter Milan and Liverpool have all made offers for right-back Martin Montoya, he will be allowed to leave and 33-year-old Brazilian striker Adriano wants to leave citing a lack of game time, hardly surprising when the club have Messi, Neymar and Suarez ahead of him. His contract runs out in 2017, Liverpool have made an offer.
Pogba is believed to prefer a move to Barcelona so if ever there was a time to try signing some Barcelona quality it is now.
