Doubtful Abdennour would join Spurs

Paul Mitchell, Head of Recruitment and Analysis at Tottenham and Rob MacKenzie, Head of Player Recruitment, have been busy since they arrived unearthing potential players that fir the profile Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham are seeking.

Younes Kaboul and Vlad Chiriches are the two the club is looking to replace and 22-year-old Austrian Kevin Wimmer from FC Koln has already been signed. In addition to him spurs have been linked with making approaches for three more, 27-year-old Poland and Torino captain Kamil Glik, 23-year-old Italian Marco Migliorini from Juve Stabia and 22-year-old Brazilian Luan Garcia Teixeira from Vasco da Gama.

Another on the radar and one who has been watched since January is 25-year-old Monaco centre-back Aymen Abdennour. He has also been watched by Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle United and a host of clubs around the top European leagues. The Tunisian is wanted by Juventus

"Given the season he just had, Aymen is generating interest from all corners of the world. We have received calls from clubs and sporting directors but at the moment there is no deal.
“Clubs such as Valencia, Newcastle, Tottenham, Inter and Wolfsburg have called. We have received concrete offers from these parties and they are really interested in Aymen.
“They’re seriously interested in Aymen. They want to know ‘how much?’ and in my opinion that’s not all. Bayern Munich have a big interest in him. Even the great Barcelona have an eye on Abdennour, they have for a long time.
“Even Juventus have a  huge interest in a player like him, suddenly the other Italian clubs are also interested. You don’t just find a defender like that on the streets.”

His representative went on to say that he is in no rush to leave but he does have ambition so you would expect with the clubs interested that he would want Champions League football which would rule us out. If you don't try however, you don't sign anyone.

He is just one of a number of central defenders Tottenham have been keeping a close eye of to approach this summer.
