Chadli's words are a plus and a minus

Nacer Chadli's recent comments that he doesn't want to leave Spurs reveals a problem have in the transfer market that some fans seen to forget or simply ignore.
Tottenham Hotspur are basically the largest club they can play for outside the five teams with more money and one of those is currently below us. For a player we are either a stepping stone to a larger club or the biggest they can aspire to with a global audience.
That means selling a player with time on his contract remaining is difficult, a player wants to play at the highest level he can and not have to take a step down. We pay a better wage than he is going to get at a Stoke or a Swansea so there is no incentive for him to accept a transfer, which he has to do if we are to sell him.
Pochettino then has to make comments like he has about Adebayor because he knows he is stuck with a player he doesn't really want but can't publicly tell the player that. Chadli is playing well and is a regular starter, why would he want to leave, what will happen when he is not a regular starter. Not wanting to leave when you are playing is great but will he feel the same way when the time comes he isn't wanted?

“I was mentally stronger this year to come back after a disappointing first year at Tottenham.
“I don’t want to leave a club like this. If ever I leave a club I want to leave it, as we say in French, par la grande porte, not by the back door.”
