A full 2nd XI or partial, who knows

It's the League Cup tonight, the least of he competitions but the only one that offers us a chance of success.

We won't of course win it playing our second team in the latter stages as they have been underwhelming so far, especially for the majority of the game in the last round against Nottingham Forest. You will recall it was only after the intervention of Ryan Mason and his debut goal for us did we produce anything in the game.

In goal we can expect to see Michel Vorm, who will now also get games in the Europa League. It seems to be a policy of Pochettino to have signing acclimatise to Tottenham or perhaps they are acclimatising to his system. For whatever reason he seems reluctant to play them and several have undoubtedly been his own choices rather than the clubs, Fazio and Stanbouli particularly.

There seems to be a few still unaware that Villarreal wanted £17 million for Mateo Musacchio but that that was only their share. They only owned 35% of him and the other owners have to paid  the same proportionate amount otherwise you are defrauding them, thus his fee was £50 million.

To suggest Daniel Levy isn't supporting Pochettino because he wouldn't pay £50 million for a player valued at £17 million is agenda driven utter stupidity.

People claiming that seem to have forgotten that Musacchio was not the first choice but Hector Moreno was, the Mexican who broke his leg at the World Cup and hasn't played since.

We can expect to see Fazio playing again tonight but given Pochettino's somewhat erratic selections, it's hard to say who will be alongside him.

Asteras Tripolis was a must win game so we didn't play Chiriches but did play and have on the bench, several first team players to ensure a positive result. Soldado didn't play and didn't play at the weekend which is a bit of a kick in the teeth.

Given our precarious position 3 points above the relegation zone and with no chance of achieving UEFA Europa League success, the League Cup becomes a major priority tournament. Plenty of us would like to see Eric Dier given some rest and Vlad Chiriches played at right-back unless Kyle Naughton is fit to take his place.

At the moment we are running Dier into the ground, people are now seeing why Sherwood rested Bentaleb, you have to ease youth in, this is a level they are not used to and you have to manage their game time. Not playing Chiriches at right-back against Asteras Tripolis was a mistake and we paid the price at the weekend. I hope we are not going to make the same mistake tonight.

Ben Davies needs to up his game at left back, no doubt Soldado will start up front with Harry Kane behind him. Benjamin Stambouli has to play, quite why he didn't figure against Asteras Tripolis I don't know, rather suggests Pochettino doesn't trust him. Lennon and Townsend should get run outs, but will we see Paulinho?

We will find out in a few hours.
