Oczipka, Davies, Rose comparison

Danny Rose holds the Tottenham left-back position and Mauricio Pochettino has agreed with the clubs suggestion to him that Ben Davies is the man to go after.

Spurs have therefore sought a deal for quite a while now and thought they had one in place until Swansea moved the goalposts, suddenly asking for more than an already agreed fee. For the second time it seems a fee has again been agreed but a deal is still far from certain.

The third option is believed to be Bastian Oczipka from Eintracht Frankfurt who has one year left on his contract.

I have therefore taken a look at the three of them with the help of Squawka and made a comparison.

In this first screen Ben Davies has a higher pass completion percentage, while for key passes and chances created Bastian Oczipka edges it.

The second graphic shows Danny Rose has more shots, however he also has the lowest accuracy, but you have to be in it to win it as the saying goes.

The third graphic starts to looks at defending, the tackles lost, not shown on the graphic are; 30, 81, 40. Both Oczipka and Davies are weaker in the air than Rose which would be a concern at set pieces.

The fourth graphic below is about defending and is rather a weak one for Oczipka. Despite concerns about his defending Rose stacks up quite well against his competitors. One of Rose's errors led to a goal, none for his competitors.

Danny Rose received a red card that was rightly rescinded which gifted a heavy victory to Manchester City at White Hart Lane and two of his bookings were for dissent as opposed to none by his competitors. The figures below suggest he is rash where the other pair keep their composure better.

A lot of information that can be interpreted in many different ways, overall for me Rose finishes third but his defensive work is comparable. Ben Davies has youth on his side and should only improve so I'd say the club have got it right making him the first choice.
