Second half disaster
The Second half report.
Aaron Lennon - Man of the First Half
As expected our weak link on the left is where the Norwich threat came as they scored immediately after the break through Snodgrass.
After 60 minutes Adebayor bustled former Spurs centre-half Bassong off the ball but his second touch was to heavy when through on goal allowing Ruddy the chance to make the save. That should have been 1-1.
Norwich then went straight down the other end where Snodgrass shot powerfully but straight at Hugo Lloris who saved easily.
Paulinho somehow stayed on the pitch until the 64th minute, far to long, when all he continued to do was pass backwards safely. The only thing he did in the game was in the 63rd minute when a one-two with Adebayor saw the striker touch to heavily and allow Ruddy to make the save again. He seems to be going through a spell with little end product at the moment.
On 65 minutes Aaron Lennon played the ball to Adebayor who first time put in substitute Soldado who could only fire wide at the near post when he probably should have gone for the far post.
A minute later and Lennon put in a cross for Soldado but he put a difficult header wide as did Adebayor from a Chadli cross on 69 minutes.
Danny Rose meanwhile continued to be useless at left back, when he attacked he just slowly jogged back and when beaten almost walked back into position, he is doing his level best to be the liability many of us expected him to be. Being the best player in a relegation team where their manager says he needs to learn positional play when defending does not make you a top four player. Not replacing him was a major mistake during the summer.
After 80 minutes a fantastic through ball from Dembele after a quickly taken free-kick put Chadli in on the left with only the keeper to beat. Alas he shot and Ruddy and made the save easy for the Norwich keeper.
After 81 minutes we were finally relieved of Rose and saw Townsend come on, who simply does not look fit yet.
The game could have got worse when a Johnson thunderbolt from a free-kick crashed into the bar with Lloris well beaten but fortunately the ball stayed out but Lloris still had to be alert with Redmond through moments later but the French number one was equal to the task.
Substitute Hooper outrun Dawson and cut the ball back behind his team mate as we went in search of an equaliser but our huffing and puffing led to nothing.
Chadli showed some promise in this game, Adebayor created chances, Dembele danced past opponents, Vertonghen was solid were the positives while Aaron Lennon was our best player on a bad day at the office
