Winter Transfer Window Round-Up

Well we are 21 days into the transfer window with 10 days left so let's take stock of all that's happened so far, er nothing except confirmation of what we already knew Defoe to Toronto but stay with us until the end of February..

After spending £100 million on new players we were unlikely to be buying much even if the money id there and even if we didn't actually spend anything in the summer.

A new Head Coach with no experience on a short term contract also told us of a wait for the summer approach and take stock of where we are then.

What we can glean from the stories we have read is that Sherwood had not seen to much of the new boys but had of course of the youngsters. A purchase Etienne Capoue is left on the bench as Nabil Bentaleb comes from the Development squad to put in some promising displays and impress the like of Gary Neville, who love him or hate him, is undoubtedly the top pundit on our TV screens.

Etienne Capoue is clearly surplus to requirements for Sherwood who has talked about attitude and professionalism which everyone assumed was a reference to the summer signing. Reports have suggested we met today to begin to try to thrash out a deal for his sale to Napoli. They of course want him for £1.5 million less than we paid for him and we want £1.5 million more than we paid for him.

As with all Spurs players we sell there will no doubt be a wages issue which brings us onto another potential mover, this time on loan back to Germany, Lewis Holtby. The stumbling block here may again be wages but I'd expect a deal to be finalised so that Sherwood can free up a place for Tom Carroll.

Tom has been playing in the Championship for high flying QPR under the watchful eye of a certain Harry Redknapp and for the England Under 21 team, now the domain of Gareth Southgate for some inexplicable reason.

With the departure of Defoe the press have assumed we must need a striker and have therefore linked us with names of potential targets but Sherwood had explained he is happy with what he has and that Chadli or Lamela could play central.

It does appear that Tim wants to play Lamela even if he is not getting much game time at the moment as he has been carrying an injury. He has also praised the attitude and mentality of Roberto Soldado so the unprofessional jibe could not have been aimed at him.

Jake Livermore is impressing at Hull City who it appears would like to make the signing permanent. A figure of £6 million (7.29m) has been mentioned that they would be prepared to pay, a figure of £10 million (€12.14m) has been mentioned as the amount we want. His value has certainly shot up since getting regular games alongside former Spurs favourite Tom Huddlestone.

We have seen a couple of Development players go out on loan. Young 18 year-old midfielder Laste Dombaxe has joined Bolton Wanderers in the Championship on a work experience loan deal. He came on as a second half substitute for the Bolton's Development Squad on Monday against Southampton and will train with them for the next few weeks.

He has captained our U17, U18 and U21 sides and hopes to impress. He is ineligible to play for the Bolton 1st XI at the moment but a full loan could take place when the loan window for Championship clubs opens in February.

Almost forgot Simon Dawkins has been transferred to Derby County and Ryan Fredericks has gone on loan to Millwall.
