West Ham & Millwall fans are special

After watching yesterdays scenes from the West Ham vs. Millwall Carling Cup tie last night, I couldn't but think that it was a set from the production of Green Street 2.

What are these fans thinking of? I know a few may come on here and say that the perpetrators aren't real fans, and to be honest, they're right. Real fans sit in the Bernabeu. West Ham and Millwall fans like to rip out seats, throw bricks and stab someone.

In a previous article, a West Ham fan commented that Tottenham aren't their biggest rivals, but Millwall are. So was this all planned? Why is it that some of these fans see it as a pastime to cause such havoc?

Some of my closest friends support West Ham and they were disgusted by what went on yesterday. From what I'm told, West Ham didn't do enough to curb the expected violence. Not enough police or stewards were present. If this was the case, then the book should be thrown at the club.

I don't know how some of you feel, but whenever I visit Upton Park, I feel a bit uneasy with the whole place. I was there on Sunday and to be fair, the atmosphere was good. We got a few dodgy looks, but that's nothing new.

I just hope situations like this one are sorted out for the good of the game and as soon as possible as FIFA & UEFA take anything that happens in England as a right for dismissal, forgetting the racial and physical abuse suffered every week in Spain and Italy.

I hope these fans take a long hard look in the mirror at themselves. The only problem is that by this action, they won't be looking at how stupid they've been, but will be checking to see if the latest fake Burberry cap fits snuggly.

Mind numbing idiots that bring their teams shame, I have not been to West Ham in the last 20 years and did so last as a teenager, to say as a football supporter I was nervous is an understatement maybe it was something to do with one of us being punched as the window of the car was down, despite nothing in the car indicating our support for Spurs, thought those days were gone, how sad to see the beautiful english game hijaked by a mindless MINORITY
  4. Outside of the ground it was tense but nothing like what the media are reporting. The stabbing was isolated and obviously unforgivable.

    Inside the ground, there were a series of pitch invasions. Hardly a riot is it.

    The police presence outside of the ground was ridiculously small. 350 I think. Inside the ground there were too few stewards and police.
  5. wow where has the rivalry gone in football!? I was at the Boleyn last night and i wasent shocked by what i saw, its west ham v millwall... probably couldent pick 2 teams that hate each other more, but yet there were about 10 stewards. What did they expect?? IRONS!
  6. Those fans cracked me up, cant believe they can be so thick! Surely it should have been the Millwall lot clashing with the home ground staff / police and invading the pitch in that manner? Even when they got on there they didnt know what to do, even to the point where one pulled a mooney!! Take the fight away from the ground, women and kids if you really need to get it out your system. Hope the FA throw the book at em, not kick them out the cup they dont stand a chance of winning it anyway!
  7. I completly agree 100% with Peter's post and i will not condem West ham fans. The authorites are to blame for not policing it properly, but this is all being blown so far out of the water by the media. I was glad to see some proper rivalry back in football again, not the fans falut if the security wasent governed properly.
  8. To say that is the clubs fault that the police didn't do enough and have enough people there is a joke! typical thought of a deluded spurs fan! I think its discraceful what happened last night, i'm a season ticket holder at the boleyn and never normally expect any trouble at the ground apart from maybe the very rare scuffle like you get at most grounds on the odd occasion. tis a very sad occasion for football, and it's so embarrasing as a Hammer, that it is once again WH involved in this sort of rubbish!

  10. As a Tottenham supported I find this article to be incredibly embarrassing. Just as the majority of West Ham and Millwall fans will be embarrassed by the behaviour of a minority of so-called fans last night.

    As you said, the behaviour of the fans on Sunday was impeccable. I was sat with the home fans and never felt the slightest hint of danger. I have also been to the Den and had a great time with the home fans.

    This violence was nothing to do with football, or football fans. It was about a bunch of aging morons wanting to hark back to the bygone days of hooliganism. I know for a fact that this was a pre-meditated meetup. I would also place a large amount of the blame on the police for being ill-prepared and lacking the foresight to prevent the trouble from getting out of hand.

    Let's hope this is quickly put to bed and the people involved punished accordingly; as why should the club or the real fans suffer when all they want is to watch a decent game of football.

    Well said lets hopefully leave this behaviour in the past. When draw came out I was expecting something to kick off, so yes maybe they should have been prepared. hooligans out of our game please so we can get on with watching our wonderful sport.

    I am sick of my club and me as a supporter being pilloried due to the actions of a couple of hundred knuckle-dragging tards that could probably not even name the squad if you asked them.

    Oh, how I was hoping for a nice season where we could just concentrate on the football. These idiots should be identified and dropped in Afghanistan!
  15. I dont condemn the violence but i do not see the huge fuss about a few people running onto the pitch. In a game as passionate as this theres going to be things like this happening but its not putting anybody in danger.

    As for the violence outside the ground, i think that everyone was aware of all the old timers planning one last fight except the police. Just stupidity on their part!

    A really good game with late goals is going to incur behaviour like this and i for one found this to be refreshing (not any violence though).

    It seems today that football is for rich people in suits just to sit back and put it on their expenses.

    At what point does it make sense to stab someone because they do not support the same team as you. Why run on the pitch i really do hope every single person that was on the picture or encouraging more to go the pitch are band from football for life in europe and the rest of the world. Football doesnt not need you and i do realy hope none of those people are ever allowed to have children.

If you think a rivalry means you have a punch up outside the ground and invade your own pitch then you're possibly even more thick than the rest of your mugs that were on the TV last night. How are the Police to blame for not policing it properly? It's the individual's fault for invading the pitch and fighting stewards etc, there shouldn't be a need for a huge Police presence. I personally hope you get thrown out of the competition for dragging English football back in to the dark ages. This could seriously harm our chances of getting the World Cup in 2018 and maybe if our country still has mindless morons like the people who have posted above then maybe that's not a bad thing.

  25. you can't blame either club, surely it is the police's fault for not having enough man power. they shuold have stopped it all before it started - as for what happned in the ground - grow up, its a derby, and very big derby - emotions were running high!! so what if a few fans ran on to the pitch - they didn't run into the millwall fans and start shooting did they. No, they were cheering. as for what happened out side the ground - well, that was bad, but to "throw the book" at west ham?? i think thats a bit.. no very harsh!!! its not the club, the players and or most of the fans fault that there are a few yobs that would rather start a fight then watcht the game. this is hopefully a one off as it hasn't happened for years!! stop going on like this is a regular occurance!!
  26. I stopped supporting WHU in 1979 after the violence down green street when walking home from the games. Opposition supporters or anyone with different colour skin was beaten and foreign owned shops smashed up.

  28. nothing surprises me about the "hard men" of west ham especially after his daughter was given abuse coming out of a pub in barking after sundays game just because she had a spurs shirt on. then a fist slammed into the car which had her & her mum in, no men in the car as I expect they wouldn't have done it if any blokes had been around, bunch of mugs
  29. It has nothing to do with the fact that nobody was hurt when the fans invaded the pitch or not last night. What if they had?! Where would football be then? It only takes one idiot like the one outside to have a knife on him and stab an opposing player after too much alcohol and adrenalin running through him.   30. From witness reports the Spammers fans werent even throwing things at Millwall fans they were just aiming at the police. Im sorry but anyone thinking this is the polices fault then they must be nuts. We all have control over our own actions and them morons knew what they were doing.     Westham are a club that has a good team but there have a big percentage of Vile fans. Not all there fans but alot.

    I think for the good of football Westham should be removed from the cup and this would sort the issue quicker. If the thugs knew that every honest fans blamed them for them being out of the cup then they wouldnt show there faces for a while. If just life bans are handed out, we all know these animals will think of it as a bagde of honour.
