We could have a new signing by the end of this week!
It looks as though we've gazumped Everton to the signing of Sheffield United's promising right-back, Kyle Naughton. Various ITK's have said that it's a done deal (heard that one before).
I personally have never seen the lad play. I hadn't even heard his name mentioned before the media jumped all over this story.
You can read up on Steve Claridge's comments on the player here.
If we do sign him, isn't £5 million a bit too much for an unproven Premier League player?

I think that tells you everything :)
To SpuroogleITK, please let us know where you saw a photograph of Harry and Naughton at Spurs Lodge (if such a photo really exists).
For the Everton fans, just wanted to highlight that the press constantly links us with players because of our status and heritage within the Premier League. That should tell you a lot about Spurs and what other teams aspire to be. It does not matter where we finish; we are viewed as one of the top clubs in England regardless. I must admit, I do like Everton's consistency and your squad. I always cheer for you guys to win against Liverpool!
COYS!!!!!!
I know football fans are traditionally thick as shit, but still...
Fix the fuck up you bunch of illiterate mongs !
PMSL, Go back to school and pay attention this time
For those that are interested in us signing Naughton, stick around.
We'll prepare an article now and publish it later on.
It's quite shocking (if true)!!
as for everton i like them a lot i cant get my head round how cheap they sign people for and how good they get, flamini should of been ours but we did not want to raise from 9 to 11 but we splashed on bentley!!
i'd be happy with bentley chimb and bent and maybe even jenas jogging on and bringing in ashley young, a rambo midfielder/defender and a powerhouse of a striker come on harry you must have some african warrior up your sleeve, do we really need the two full backs from sheff utd....bale and gunter are young and learning/ bae and corluka and hutton
i'd like to see some of our kids coming through and see what gio is like surely cant go from a hatrick vs mallorca for barca to us to ipswich and beyong can he??!!
p.s i am just p…
It's such a simple process.

no disrespect to spurs fans but you in the eyes of neutrals your club is seen as a bit of a joke. it's a bit harsh as you have a good history and a solid loyal fanbase, it's just unfortunate that the people who run your club constantly make fools out of themselves which results in everyone laughing at spurs.
getting back to naughton, all reports suggest he would rather go to goodison than spurs so i don't understand why people are saying stuff like "as soon as spurs cam in for him his mind was made up". What could spurs possibly offer him ? you don't exactly have a good recent history with youngsters coming through the ranks and you are already top heavy in the RB department. Combine that with no european football and the point i mentioned about neutrals not taking spurs seriously and it's hard to see what possible reason he would have for choosing spurs over everton …
everton should try for chimbonda who is no longer wanted at spurs and would be a good signing for a club like everton.
you have less history, you are less successful, you are newcastle mk2 in the eyes of neutrals.
i know it's hard to hear, but these are facts wether you like it or not
we have gone for 2 players in our bid. naughton has already said once spurs came in for him his mind was made up. he will not be signing for everton. even doyle picked wolves above everton and lescott would prefer to go to city.
I have also noticed a few that have come on here and talked about Tottenham ruining the careers of players.
May I add the fact that each and every club has had its fair share of players that have gone wayward.
Tottenham Hotspur are talked of as a club that many players and managers have gone to but never made the grade simply because of the publicity the club receives.
Make no qualms about it, Tottenham Hotspur are a massive club with an abundance of potential.
I am not for one second stating that we should be in the top four simply because of our status in the English game; far from it. But when it comes to a player deciding where to ply his trade (outside of the echelons of the top four consortium and Manchester City's wealth), Tottenham Hotspur is most likely the preferred choice.
everton have won more trophies and more league titles (league titles being the most important factor by far). both teams have similar size fanbases. everton have been in top flight football longer than anyone else (equal with arsenal).
you are going to have to come up with SOLID FACTS if you are going to claim that spurs are a bigger club.
lol, christ you must be desperate if you are resorting to making stuff up.
show me a link to the quote pls
spurs= first to win double
spurs beat chelsea in a cup final with ramos
everton lost theres
harry won an fa cup with pompy
you gotta come with something better than that
you have won the league a grand total of two times, the last time being in 1961. PMSL
everton have won it 9 times, thats more than 4x more than spurs.
if we are poop what does that make spurs
By "history", I state that there is ample evidence which shows that players with superior status in world football have graced the turf of White Heart Lane than of Goodison.
By "history", I define the fact that on the continent, the name Tottenham Hotspur means something whereas you'll be hard pressed to find a group that know of Everton or Villa.
In my opinion, everything counts towards the greatness of a football club, not simply the trophies that reside in a cabinet.
Keep the subject to football.
Everton fans, you are most welcome to share your views.
Personally, I view Everton and Liverpool fans to be the most knowledgeable fans in England.
Spurs fans, some of you are beginning to sound like Newcastle fans. Please grow up.

hibbert had a medical this morning, and his heel and sole problem is now cleared up ,and he passed the medical without a hitch.
as for your players with superior status, pls list them...
as for your on the continent comment, you have no proof of that whatsoever. it's just an assumption, at least i am coming with solid facts.
anyone who is neutral and knows the history of english football knows that everton are historically the bigger club. i don't even know why im discussing this, it shouldn't even be debatable.
From what I gather stoke want him to go to Us (spurs) because we will also buy walker and then loan him back to them in a combined deal. 11m is being banded around.
As to what we have that makes us more attractive than Everton and Villa, simply put London. Lets face it Liverpool and Birmingham are no comparison.
european games spurs are historically better we actually better ranked than the gooners there
players:
lets say last 15 or so years
bakayoko <<<<< klinsmann
pat nevin <<<<<< ginola
rideout <<<<<< sheringham
no arguement as to who have had the better players
even andy gray on fifa 09 says with all the stars that tottenham have had they should have won much more
if jol was aloud to continue and not have commoli getting in the way we would have maintained 5th spot but s**t happens remember the food poisoning we had 4th there more or less
Brightonspur.
London is obviously more attractive to foreigners but naughton is a northerner, northerners traditionally hate southerners.
So who knows, i think naughton wants to go to everton but i think he will go to spurs because everton won't stump up the extra 1 million necessary.
Everton are one of the oldest most successful clubs England has.
Spurs are successful but only in the last 5 years or so because of spending are being seen as a big club.
At the end of the day none of it matters
Look Poshspur big or small postition counts for everything we have finished higher than the joke you call a team in the last 4 or 5 seasons.
football, glamorous and we are in London.

If a team ever was more a victim of the modern game it was Spurs.
Everton have the better manager, the smaller net spend and the better league finishes over the past few years.
You're not going to break the top 4 so give it up and revert back to the Carling Cup.
On what basis is the "fact" made then????
This is the funniest thread I've ever read.
I don't really go for the "We're a bigger club than you" arguments but really the facts are that Spurs are no way in the same bracket as Everton or Villa when it comes to stature in the game. Both are founder members of the football league. Saying Spurs were the first non-league team to win the FA Cup is not really one you can use at Everton and Villa as they have never been a non-league team!!!!

Utter Wank.
as for the all time prem table, this is about HISTORY... history is longer than the premier league. why don't we take a look at the all time top division table which you conveniently ignored

END OF ARGUEMENT
EVERTON BACK TO YOUR PAGE
pmsl at using "spend more than 5m on players" arguement. do you think we should follow spurs example of spending stupid money on players like bent and bentley. the fact everton spend so little and do so well is a massive positive. we sign players for cheap and turn them into great players. arteta, cahill, lescott, jagielka, pienaar... all cost peanuts and would now sell for big money.
i think you need to realise that everton are doing it the correct way, spurs are (for the most part) doing it the wrong way
he;s already said he doesn't want the celtic job btw...
know your facts ;)
You are just making yourself look like a bit of a simpleton.
Everton win ratio - 40.76%
Tottenham win ratio - 39.89%
Not much in it.
Number of trophies won - 24 each (inc Charity/Community Shield)
Again not much in it!
Everton need an injection of cash to propel them to the next level.
The PoshSpurs posters basis was laughable. Its views like his that give Spurs fans their delusional tag amongst the rest of the footballing population. History? Yes mate, you're talking about one club who have been champions of England 9 times and another who have been champions of England 7 times and won the European Cup. While Spurs have one it twice. It just does not compare.
I mean seriously ‘financial stability’ compared to that lot? What sort of super strength drugs are you on?!
http://blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/ladslounge/2009/07/why-kyle-naughton-should-snub.html
Greatness is defined by league titles, you can fluke a cup run, you can;t fluke the league
everton - 9 league titles
spurs - 2 league titles
all time points in top flight football
everton - 4302
spurs - 3067
those are differences worth mentioning ;)
pretty much every reason either side has given on here has been pathetic. at the end of the day, currently, spurs have a much stronger squad, with the majority of their backups being good enough to slot in to the everton team (everton would love hutton, bentley, bent etc) but this is mainly down to the higher financial status of spurs. in terms of ambition, spurs once again rule over everton. in terms of running a tight ship that gradually gets better and better, i'm afraid everton win. both clubs are similar - both living in the shadow of bitter (redscum) rivals and both determined to one day turn this around.
why can't we all just get along?!
The points are due to Everton being in the top flight longer. The averages above are more informative.
Let's face it not much between Spurs, Villa and Everton with only recent success (or lack of) defining who is "currently" better off!
Spurs's two cup wins in 10 years (+ 3 semis in a row and two top 5 finishes in a row) or Everton's 4 top 6 finishes in the last 5 seasons (+ FA cup finalists)?
Lets face it both teams (inc Villa) prior to the last 5 seasons or so have been mediocre...in league placings and trophy wins!
indeed they are, just another reason why they are a bigger club
it's amazing how highly some of you rate your own players when they consistently let you down on a regular basis.
the irony is if we did sign someone like bentley i can guarantee you he would play a lot better for us than he does for you... same would go for most of your players but thats to be expected when we have a vastly superior manager who out performs other managers with triple the transfer budget.
No class!
Everton seem to be quite happy finishing in that 4th to 7th bracket and have a sund manager, spurs weren't happy with that as the wanted champs league but by changing their manager numerous times they have been setting themselves back.
I'm pretty sure that 99% of players would choose spurs over everton
"'Obviously there are places where I would not want to go. Tottenham? Let's reject that"
pmsl
The third goal scored by Graham Stuart was indeed dubious, but guess what, 2-2 would also have been enough to keep the 'all time champions of English football' in the top flight.
Spurs are, am and will always have a bigger pull than either of you, unless of course, like Man City you get taken over by multi-billionaires and start paying ridiculous wages (oh and that is with or without Europa cup football).
COYS!!!
two fighting it out) then getting into the top four and CL
football will not happen....
We have a manager who has kept us in the top
four on a budget and built a state of the art stadium (expandable
to 100,000 capacity) with 55,000 on the waiting list and
will be taken over soon by an American billionaire - soon this
will be the only way to compete for a top four place!
It is too late for you now, sorry!
We were frankly embarrasing at times last season and the thing we lacked most was teamwork....look at Villa, Fulham and Everton...arguably their squads dont have as many "names" as ours but as combinations they were successful...and in the end they finished above us....and deservedly so.
For once lets be realistic and enjoy our team.
Hope Harry and Levy hear this.
Peace
Spurs fan.
a signing, if it's true anyway... Everton have done really well and have done it on a budget really, respect to them and Moyes. However, the Toffees footy isn't for the purist though is it!! Better than Stoke's but then again Everton are a 'big-club' after all...
everyone loves a good laugh at spurs, it's going to become the new national hobby now newcastle are in the championship
